We're searching for a Senior Systems Administrator, someone who's ready to be part of the best ranked children's hospital in Texas, and among the best in the nation. In this position, you will maintain and administer software and hardware on major hospital systems. Consults and assists with new and existing applications hardware architecture, operating system and layered products installation and upgrades, capacity planning, systems administration, systems programming, performance monitoring, file systems management; research, tests, and participates in standards development; and problem resolution in a technologically advanced cluster of platforms.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

  • Administers enterprise Windows Server environments, including installation, configuration, upgrades, and maintenance.
  • Manages Active Directory integration, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, certificate services, and related infrastructure components.
  • Performs operating system troubleshooting and root cause analysis for server-related issues.
  • Maintains server security baselines and implements hardening standards in accordance with organizational policies.
  • Supports server lifecycle management, including build, deployment, upgrades, and decommissioning activities.
  • Plans, coordinates, and implements operating system and infrastructure patching activities.
  • Reviews vulnerability reports and remediates security findings within established service level requirements.
  • Validates patch deployments and ensures compliance with organizational security standards.
  • Works with application owners to coordinate maintenance windows and minimize operational impact.
  • Documents patching activities and provides compliance reporting to management.
  • Administers enterprise compute infrastructure, including physical and virtual server platforms.
  • Manages VMware, Hyper-V, or other virtualization technologies.
  • Monitors and optimizes CPU, memory, storage, and network resource utilization.
  • Performs capacity planning and recommends infrastructure upgrades.
  • Supports provisioning, migration, and optimization of virtual and physical workloads.
  • Identifies and resolves performance bottlenecks impacting infrastructure services.
  • Develops PowerShell and other automation scripts to streamline operational tasks.
  • Implements automated monitoring, reporting, and remediation capabilities.
  • Maintains operational documentation, standards, and procedures.
  • Participates in on-call support and incident response activities for critical infrastructure systems.

Skills & Requirements

  • Required H.S. Diploma or GED with a preferred bachelor''s degree in computer science
  • A bachelor''s degree will substitute for 4 years of experience
  • Required 7 years'' experience in administration of enterprise-level systems
