The Senior Systems Administrator is responsible for the administration, maintenance, monitoring, security, and continuous improvement of SARRC's enterprise technology infrastructure across multiple Arizona locations. This role serves as the organization's primary infrastructure resource and Tier 3 escalation point, supporting server administration, virtualization, networking, identity management, cybersecurity, backup and disaster recovery, endpoint management, and cloud-connected services. Working closely with the IT Director, the Senior Systems Administrator will assess and modernize existing infrastructure, maintain system reliability and security, document critical systems, and support SARRC's continued growth and expansion. The ideal candidate combines senior-level technical expertise with excellent troubleshooting, documentation, communication, and change management skills. Your Role at SARRC - Infrastructure Administration: Administer and maintain Windows Server environments, on-premises infrastructure, and supporting systems. Monitor server, storage, network, endpoint, and cloud-connected systems to ensure availability, performance, and reliability. Perform infrastructure health assessments, lifecycle planning, patching, upgrades, and maintenance activities. Identify emerging hardware, software, compute, capacity, and performance issues before they affect business operations.
- Virtualization, Storage, Backup, and Recovery: Administer and support virtualized environments and hypervisor platforms. Support migration and modernization initiatives involving virtualization technologies, including transition away from legacy platforms where applicable. Manage backup and recovery systems, including Veeam Backup & Replication.
- Network Administration: Administer and support enterprise networking infrastructure, including switching, routing, VLANs, wireless networks, VPN technologies, and firewall platforms. Troubleshoot complex connectivity, performance, routing, segmentation, and wireless issues across multiple locations. Participate in network expansion, design, and configuration activities for new and existing sites.
- Security, Compliance, and Risk Management: Support cybersecurity initiatives, security best practices, and risk reduction across the organization. Monitor, prioritize, and remediate vulnerabilities across servers, endpoints, network infrastructure, and cloud-connected services. Administer endpoint security tools and participate in security awareness initiatives. Support HIPAA-related security and privacy requirements applicable to IT systems and infrastructure.
Required Qualifications: - Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, in a related field, or equivalent experience.
- Minimum of seven (7) years of progressively responsible systems administration or infrastructure administration experience.
- Strong experience administering Windows Server environments in a multi-site organization.
- Strong knowledge of Active Directory, Group Policy, Microsoft 365, Exchange Online, Microsoft Entra ID, and hybrid identity environments.
- Experience managing virtualization platforms and hypervisor technologies.
- Experience administering enterprise backup, replication, and disaster recovery solutions.
- Strong networking knowledge, including TCP/IP, routing, switching, VLANs, VPNs, firewalls, and wireless networking.
- Experience supporting security administration, vulnerability remediation, endpoint security, access management, and compliance activities.
- Strong written documentation skills and ability to produce clear technical procedures, diagrams, standards, and change records.
- Availability to work occasionally in the evenings and weekends - providing after-hours support for severe infrastructure incidents.
- Occasional travel between SARRC locations in Arizona, reliable transportation needed.
Preferred Qualifications: - Experience supporting healthcare, nonprofit, research, behavioral health, autism services, or other regulated environments.
- Familiarity with HIPAA security and privacy requirements.
- Experience with Azure cloud services and cloud-connected infrastructure monitoring.
- Experience with Veeam Backup & Replication.
- Experience with SonicWall, Dell, Ubiquiti, Arista, or similar network platforms.
- Experience with Red Hat-based environments or OpenShift Virtualization is helpful but not required.
- Experience with Microsoft Intune, IBM MaaS360, or other endpoint/mobile device management platforms.
- PowerShell scripting experience; Power Automate, Python, or Bash experience helpful.
- Understanding of ITIL principles, ITIL 4 documentation practices, change management, and operational process maturity.
- Relevant industry certifications such as Microsoft, Azure, Security+, Cisco, VMware, or similar credentials.
Salary: $70K - $90K DOE Hours: M-F 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. with occasional after hours and weekend expectations.
