Position Description & QualificationsSerco is looking for an experienced and enthusiastic Senior Systems Engineer to join our dynamic Maritime Engineering Operation (MEO) at our Alexandria, Virginia location. As a Systems Engineer, you will work closely with the customer and other Serco teams in an integrated design environment to deliver high quality designs to schedule. You will collaborate with our Digital Engineering team to create an integrated data environment linking requirements to design elements and deliverables, contributing to military modernization and the safety of our sailors.In This Role, You WillWork directly with senior personnel and program managers in the planning and execution of engineering activities related to system and technical product development in support of Navy ship acquisition.Employ existing guidelines, instructions, and guidance from higher-level engineers, experience, and independent judgment to plan and accomplish task objectives.Manage technical conflicts during specification reading sessions and various other specification meetings.Review ship system guidance and specifications.Propose system requirements and provide detailed system descriptions.Participate in the change management process ensuring proposed changes meet technical requirements.Update and maintain configuration control of drawings, standards, and MIL‑SPECs.Assist engineers and architects from a variety of specialties in expressing their system needs clearly to colleagues from other areas of expertise.Manage changes to the specification ensuring that allowances made are appropriately limited and enforceable in later stages of design and construction.To Be Successful In This Role, You Will HaveAn active Secret security clearance.A U.S. citizenship.A Bachelor's degree in Systems Engineering, Marine Engineering, Naval Architecture, or a related field.At least 8 years of experience in a related field.The ability to travel 10%.Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills in a collaborative team environment.Strong verbal and written communication skills with complex technical issues.Demonstrated command of engineering principles and methods, and knowledge of ship systems.Experience with Navy acquisition programs.Broad knowledge of shipboard systems and basic interactions of those systems.Ability to communicate across technical specialties including Naval Architecture, Marine Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, and Structural Engineering.Solid writing skills for communicating technical materials with accuracy and precise word usage.BenefitsMedical, dental, and vision insurance.Robust vacation and sick leave benefits, and flexible work arrangements where permitted.401(k) plan that includes employer matching funds.Tuition reimbursement program.Life insurance and disability coverage.Optional coverages that can be purchased, including pet insurance, home and auto insurance, additional life and accident insurance, critical illness insurance, group legal, ID theft protection.Birth, adoption, parental leave benefits.Employee Assistance Plan.Pay TransparencyOur total rewards package includes competitive pay, performance-based incentives, and benefits that promote well-being and work-life balance.
