Senior Systems Engineer

Aquinas Consulting is currently looking to fill a Senior Systems Engineer job. This CONTRACT job is available with one of our key clients in the hospitality industry. In this role, you will lead cloud cost optimization and FinOps initiatives by developing automation, governance, and reporting solutions across multi-cloud environments and emerging AI/GenAI platforms. To be successful in this position, you should have a strong background in cloud engineering, automation, financial analytics, and FinOps strategies. Preference will be given to professionals with experience optimizing cloud costs across AWS, Azure, and AI/ML environments.

Senior systems Engineer job Responsibilities:

• Design, implement, and manage FinOps capabilities that improve cloud cost visibility, forecasting, budgeting, chargeback/showback, anomaly detection, and optimization across public cloud and AI/GenAI environments.
• Analyze cloud usage, resource utilization, and spending trends while developing automation and governance strategies that improve financial accountability and reduce operational costs.
• Collaborate with engineering, finance, architecture, security, procurement, and product teams to align cloud spending with business objectives and develop scalable cost optimization solutions.
• Develop automated reporting, dashboards, and utilization metrics that provide executive visibility into cloud performance, capacity planning, service levels, and financial performance.
• Provide technical leadership by evaluating existing cloud environments, recommending improvements, supporting solution delivery, and mentoring team members on FinOps best practices.
• Support AI/ML and GenAI cost management initiatives by implementing governance, monitoring usage, optimizing workloads, and driving continuous improvements across cloud platforms.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Seven plus years of information technology experience, including cloud technologies (AWS, Azure, AliCloud), scripting, and automation using tools such as Python or Bash.
• Three plus years of experience developing and implementing FinOps or cloud cost optimization strategies across enterprise cloud environments.
• Strong knowledge of cloud cost management, automation, financial analytics, forecasting, governance, and stakeholder collaboration, with excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
• Experience with AI/ML and GenAI platforms such as Amazon Bedrock, SageMaker, Azure OpenAI, Azure AI Foundry, Google Vertex AI, OpenAI APIs, Anthropic, Databricks, or Snowflake AI is preferred.
