Senior Systems Engineer
Location: Los Angeles, CA (Hybrid)
Schedule: Onsite during onboarding period, then hybrid schedule available
Compensation: $135,000–$150,000 base salary + bonus potential
Overview
A professional services organization is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer to support and enhance enterprise infrastructure across systems, networking, virtualization, and security technologies. This is a senior-level, hands-on engineering role responsible for maintaining highly available infrastructure environments while contributing to modernization, stability, and operational excellence initiatives.

This opportunity is ideal for an experienced infrastructure engineer who thrives in complex enterprise environments and enjoys working across both systems and networking disciplines.
Key Responsibilities
  • Administer, maintain, and optimize enterprise infrastructure environments including virtualization, storage, and networking platforms
  • Deploy and support VMware, VxRail, and NAS/storage solutions
  • Design, configure, and troubleshoot Layer 2 and Layer 3 network infrastructure
  • Manage routing and switching technologies including BGP, OSPF, VLANs, spanning tree, static routing, and EtherChannel/LACP
  • Configure and maintain enterprise firewall environments including VPNs, NAT policies, and security rules
  • Troubleshoot WAN/LAN connectivity, fiber, routing, and network performance issues
  • Manage SSL/TLS certificates and support PKI/Certificate Authority administration
  • Partner with internal security teams on vulnerability remediation, segmentation, and infrastructure hardening initiatives
  • Administer Windows Server environments with focus on performance, resiliency, and high availability
  • Manage Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, Group Policy, and domain controller replication
  • Support clustering technologies for file services and SQL environments
  • Maintain Hybrid Exchange environments including mailbox administration and mail flow management
  • Implement and support patch management, endpoint deployment, and device management solutions
  • Lead backup, business continuity, and disaster recovery efforts using enterprise backup platforms
  • Support internal IT infrastructure including desktops, laptops, printers, telephony, and core enterprise services
  • Collaborate with service desk and infrastructure teams to resolve escalated technical issues and perform root cause analysis
  • Contribute to infrastructure documentation, operational standards, and process improvement initiatives
Required Qualifications
  • 5+ years of experience in Systems Administration, Infrastructure Engineering, or Systems Engineering roles
  • Strong hands-on experience supporting enterprise infrastructure and networking environments
  • Experience with:
    • Windows Server environments
    • Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, and Group Policy
    • VMware and virtualization technologies
    • Enterprise networking and routing/switching
    • Firewall administration (Palo Alto and/or Meraki preferred)
    • Hybrid Exchange environments
    • Backup and disaster recovery solutions
    • SSL/TLS certificate management and PKI concepts
  • Scripting or automation experience using PowerShell, Python, SQL, or similar technologies
  • Experience with endpoint management and deployment platforms such as Intune, PDQ, or similar tools
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills in complex enterprise environments
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or equivalent professional experience
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience supporting legal, financial, healthcare, or other highly regulated environments
  • Familiarity with enterprise business applications and document management systems
  • Industry certifications such as CCNA, CCIE, CISSP, VMware, Microsoft, or related infrastructure/security certifications
