Senior Systems Engineer (Proofpoint)

Overview:

Edgewater Federal Solutions is seeking a Sr. Systems Engineer to lead the migration of the client’s on-premises IronPort email security appliances to a Proofpoint cloud-based email security solution. The engineer will plan and execute a seamless transition while minimizing disruption to enterprise email services. Unless otherwise specified, this position requires full-time onsite presence.

 

This work is performed onsite in Washington, DC without remote or hybrid options.  

Responsibilities:

• Lead the migration from on-premises IronPort email security appliances to Proofpoint’s cloud-based email security solution.
• Design, configure, administer, and maintain Proofpoint as an enterprise service.
• Configure Proofpoint firewall rules and maintain block lists.
• Respond to requests to quarantine or release email and troubleshoot message-delivery issues.
• Coordinate migration activities to preserve email continuity and minimize operational disruption.

Qualifications:

• U.S. Citizenship is required.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or similar studies
• Expert-level experience designing, configuring, and maintaining Proofpoint in an enterprise environment.
• Deep understanding of mail transfer agents (MTA), Proofpoint Messaging Security Gateway, and Proofpoint Messaging Security Gateway 8.x.
• Experience configuring Proofpoint firewall rules, maintaining block lists, and managing email quarantine and release requests.
• Eight years of experience supporting Linux servers and VMware environments.

 

Salary: $157,044 - $160,534
