    Description

    We are seeking a highly motivated Systems Engineer to join a SONAR Solutions company in Santa Barbara California.

    This premier undersea acoustics engineering and manufacturing company focuses on supplying advanced SONAR solutions for the US Navy Their technical expertise, customized design capabilities and diverse manufacturing abilities have led to products being deployed on virtually every class of underwater Navy system currently in operation.

    Job Description and Key Responsibilities

    This position is an opportunity to lead product development teams. In this role the candidate will work closely with customers to develop system concepts, technical requirements, and product specifications. The candidate will be responsible for leading engineering teams through the development lifecycle.

    Key responsibilities:

    • Technical leadership in systems and product development during all aspects of the development lifecycle
    • Generation of technical requirement and specifications, requirement management, and compliance traceability
    • Architecture development, system modelling, algorithm development, data analysis, and trade studies
    • Leadership during design prototyping, qualification testing, requirement compliance management
    • Support to systems integration and customer trials activities

    Required Education and Basic Experience

    • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Science
    • Minimum 10 years working in a system engineering leadership role with direct product design and development experience
    • Experience includes the full new product development lifecycle, including concept definition to production release

    Required Citizenship and Security Clearance

    • US Citizenship is required
    • Secret or Ability to obtain Secret clearance within one year of employment

    Preferred Skills

    • Experience with SONAR systems
    • Experience with underwater acoustic positioning systems for tracking and navigation
    • Experience and understanding of underwater acoustic principles
    • Experience and understanding of electronic systems with embedded SW applications
    • Experience and understanding of principles of operation for SONAR systems, datalinks, navigation, and control systems
    • Experience in developing computer-based performance models to support system concept/design definition
    • Demonstrated excellence in technical leadership
    • Must possess outstanding communication and interpersonal skills with all levels of personnel in a technical context
    • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in systems engineering
    • Consistently demonstrates the ability to analyze and respond appropriately to customer issues in a timely manner
    • Must be reliable, flexible, and detail oriented
    • Consistently demonstrates effective team building and professional behavior
    • Demonstrated ability to lead by influence and collaboration
    • Strong communications skills and experience presenting to customers and senior leadership

    Salary Range:

    $150,000 - $220,000
