    Description

A global financial institution is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer to provide technical leadership across its enterprise virtualization, compute, and virtual desktop infrastructure. This Vice President-level position combines team leadership with direct engineering responsibility in a large, production-critical environment.

The engineer will help establish team priorities, resolve complex infrastructure issues, improve platform health, and strengthen operational standards. The role covers virtualization, physical compute, VDI infrastructure, capacity, monitoring, automation, disaster recovery, hardware lifecycle, and configuration governance.

    RESPONSIBILITIES
    • Lead and guide a group of infrastructure engineers while remaining actively involved in technical delivery.
    • Administer enterprise VMware environments, including vSphere, vCenter, ESXi, clusters, hosts, and virtual machines.
    • Support enterprise server platforms and coordinate hardware maintenance, upgrades, break/fix activity, and vendor escalations.
    • Maintain the stability and performance of the infrastructure supporting enterprise virtual desktop services.
    • Troubleshoot complex production incidents and implement permanent corrective actions.
    • Monitor platform capacity, utilization, health, and performance across multiple infrastructure layers.
    • Automate provisioning, reporting, compliance validation, and repeatable operational processes.
    • Support disaster-recovery planning, testing, documentation, and recovery readiness.
    • Maintain accurate infrastructure records within configuration-management systems.
    • Coordinate technical work across compute, storage, network, desktop engineering, and service-management teams.

    Role Requirements:
    • Extensive hands-on experience with VMware vSphere, vCenter, and ESXi.
    • Ability to troubleshoot complex VMware issues in a large production environment.
    • Strong experience supporting enterprise physical server hardware.
    • Knowledge of server lifecycle management, firmware, break/fix procedures, and vendor escalation.
    • Experience leading technical staff while continuing to perform hands-on engineering work.
    • Strong incident-management and root-cause-analysis experience.
    • Understanding of enterprise storage concepts and how storage resources support virtualized environments.
    • Experience working within financial services.
    • Strong communication, prioritization, and stakeholder-management skills.
    • Ability to make sound decisions and remain composed during high-severity incidents.
    • Ability to work onsite in Iselin, New Jersey, according to the hybrid schedule.

    PREFERRED EXPERIENCE
    • Experience with Omnissa Horizon or VMware Horizon.
    • Experience with App Volumes or Workspace ONE.
    • PowerShell or PowerCLI scripting experience.
    • Experience with Zerto or another replication technology.
    • Familiarity with VMware Aria Operations.
    • ServiceNow, CMDB, ITSM, or ITIL experience.
    • Disaster-recovery or business-continuity testing experience.

    How We Work:
    • Engineers take clear ownership of platform health and operational outcomes.
    • Team leaders are expected to guide others while remaining technically credible and hands-on.
    • Infrastructure teams work closely across compute, storage, networking, desktop engineering, and service management.
    • Decisions balance platform reliability, stakeholder needs, security, risk, and long-term maintainability.
    • Major incidents are followed by disciplined root-cause analysis and preventive improvement.
