Job Details
We are seeking an experienced Senior Tax & Audit Accountant to join our growing team. This role is ideal for an accounting professional who enjoys working across both tax and assurance engagements while serving as a trusted advisor to clients. The Senior Accountant will be responsible for preparing and reviewing tax returns, assisting with audit and review engagements, mentoring junior staff, and ensuring compliance with applicable accounting and tax regulations.
Key Responsibilities
Tax
Prepare and review individual, corporate, partnership, S-Corporation, trust, and nonprofit tax returns
Conduct tax research and provide recommendations on complex tax matters
Assist clients with tax planning strategies to minimize liabilities and maximize opportunities
Respond to IRS and state tax notices and assist with tax resolution matters
Identify tax-saving opportunities and communicate findings to clients and leadership
Audit & Assurance
Perform and lead audit, review, and compilation engagements for privately held businesses
Prepare and review financial statements in accordance with GAAP
Evaluate internal controls and identify process improvement recommendations
Conduct risk assessments, testing procedures, and audit documentation
Assist with engagement planning, budgeting, and execution
Client Service & Leadership
Serve as a primary point of contact for assigned clients
Build and maintain strong client relationships through proactive communication
Mentor and train junior accounting staff
Review workpapers and provide constructive feedback
Collaborate with partners and managers on client engagements and special projects
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
CPA designation or CPA candidate strongly preferred
4+ years of public accounting experience with both tax and audit exposure
Strong knowledge of federal and state tax regulations
Experience performing audits, reviews, and compilations
Proficiency with tax preparation and accounting software
Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
Preferred Experience
Public accounting firm experience
Experience serving closely held businesses and high-net-worth individuals
Knowledge of GAAP and GAAS
Exposure to multiple industries including professional services, manufacturing, construction, healthcare, nonprofit, or real estate
