Senior Tax Manager – Public Accounting | Equity/Partnership Track

About the Opportunity

Equity/Partnership Opportunity Within 1–3 Years

We are seeking an experienced Senior Tax Manager to join our growing public accounting firm. This is a leadership opportunity for an accomplished tax professional seeking a clear path toward equity ownership and partnership.

The ideal candidate will have significant public accounting experience, strong technical tax expertise, and a proven ability to build trusted client relationships. Real Estate and/or Private Equity experience is highly preferred.

This position will initially be fully on-site, with the opportunity to transition to a hybrid arrangement as the individual becomes established and demonstrates strong performance.

For the right candidate, the firm anticipates an equity/partnership opportunity within 1–3 years. This role is designed for someone who wants to contribute to the firm's growth and ultimately participate in its ownership and success.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage and oversee tax engagements for individual, partnership, and corporate clients.
• Lead engagements involving Real Estate, Private Equity, investment partnerships, and closely held businesses.
• Review complex federal, state, and local tax returns.
• Provide tax planning and consulting tailored to client objectives.
• Serve as a trusted advisor and primary contact for key clients.
• Research and resolve complex tax issues.
• Manage engagement budgets, deadlines, billing, staffing, and profitability.
• Supervise, mentor, and develop tax professionals.
• Review tax workpapers and returns and provide constructive feedback.
• Assist clients with IRS and state tax matters and examinations.
• Monitor tax law developments and identify planning opportunities.
• Participate in networking, proposals, and business development.
• Identify opportunities to expand client relationships and grow the tax practice.
• Work with firm leadership to develop the practice and prepare for future ownership.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting required.
• Master's degree in Accounting required.
• Active CPA license required.
• 8+ years of progressive public accounting tax experience.
• Extensive experience preparing and reviewing complex individual and business tax returns.
• Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local taxation.
• Experience managing multiple client engagements and deadlines.
• Proven ability to supervise, mentor, and develop tax professionals.
• Strong analytical, research, and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication, client service, and relationship-management skills.
• Ability to exercise sound professional judgment and work independently.
• Willingness to work fully on-site initially.

Preferred Experience

• Real Estate tax experience highly preferred.
• Private Equity, investment fund, or fund manager experience highly preferred.
• Experience with real estate and investment partnerships and complex partnership structures.
• Experience with real estate transactions, acquisitions, dispositions, refinancing, and tax planning.
• Familiarity with partnership allocations, capital accounts, distributions, and investor reporting.
• Experience serving high-net-worth individuals, family offices, and closely held businesses.
• Strong partnership, S corporation, and C corporation tax experience.
• Multi-state taxation and tax examination experience.
• Proven business development and client relationship expansion experience.
• Experience with CCH Axcess, ProSystem fx, UltraTax, GoSystem, or similar software.

Salary: $130,000+, depending on experience, qualifications, and location.
