    Description

    Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Tax Manager to lead and oversee a growing Tax & Accounting Services practice. This role is ideal for a seasoned public accounting professional who excels in client service, complex tax review, staff leadership, and hands‑on work with closely held businesses. The position is fully onsite and offers long‑term career growth, including future leadership opportunities.

    Responsibilities:

    Leadership & Practice Management

    • Manage engagement workflow, deadlines, and quality-control standards.
    • Conduct performance evaluations and support ongoing professional development.
    • Supervise, mentor, and develop staff at multiple levels (managers, seniors, associates)
    • Review workpapers, tax returns, and financial statements for accuracy and compliance.

    Client Service & Advisory

    • Serve as the primary relationship manager for assigned clients.
    • Provide proactive tax planning, year‑end strategies, and accounting guidance.
    • Deliver responsive, high‑quality service to closely held and family‑owned businesses.
    • Meet regularly with clients to understand business needs and identify value‑add opportunities.

    Technical Tax & Accounting

    • Perform technical tax research and resolve complex issues.
    • Review GAAP‑compliant financial statements, compilations, and reviews.
    • Support year‑end planning, WIP analysis, EBITDA calculations, and financial planning.
    • Work with long‑term contract revenue recognition, including percentage‑of‑completion (POC) accounting.
    • Review complex federal and multi‑state tax returns: 1040, 1120, 1120‑S, 1065, fiduciary/trust returns, and related filings.

    Industry & Engagement Exposure

    • Handle multi‑state tax matters for clients operating across several jurisdictions.
    • Work with closely held businesses across industries such as: construction, contracting, manufacturing, HVAC, trades, restaurants, and other service‑based companies.

    Technology & Workflow

    • Utilize QuickBooks Online/Desktop at an advanced level.
    • Support process improvements, workflow optimization, and technology adoption.
    • Use Thomson Reuters applications (UltraTax CS, Accounting CS, Practice CS, Fixed Assets CS)

    Business Development

    • Identify opportunities within existing client relationships.
    • Participate in networking, referral development, and practice growth initiatives.

    Qualifications (Must-Haves)

    • Active CPA license (required)
    • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field.
    • Ability to work extended hours during peak periods.
    • Strong communication, organizational, and client‑relationship skills.
    • Demonstrated experience supervising staff and managing engagements.
    • Strong background working with closely held businesses and multi‑state filings.
    • Advanced proficiency in QuickBooks and Thomson Reuters tax/accounting software.
    • 8–10+ years of progressive public accounting experience with increasing responsibility.
    • Extensive experience reviewing complex tax returns and GAAP financial statements.

    Preferred Skills:

    • Ability to manage multiple engagements simultaneously.
    • Prior involvement in business development or practice leadership.
    • Experience with construction accounting and POC revenue recognition.
    • Background supporting family‑owned or multi‑generational businesses.
    • Experience with estate, trust, and high‑net‑worth individual tax matters.
