About the RoleWe are seeking an experienced Senior Tax Reviewer to join our growing team. This role serves as the final quality-control reviewer for tax engagements, with responsibility for reviewing, approving, and signing off on returns before delivery to clients and filing with taxing authorities.
The ideal candidate is a licensed CPA with strong technical expertise, tax planning experience, and the ability to provide guidance on complex tax matters. This individual will serve as a trusted resource for staff, support client consultations, and help identify opportunities that add value for our clients.
Key Responsibilities• Perform final reviews of individual, corporate, partnership, trust, and other tax returns for accuracy, completeness, and compliance.
• Exercise final sign-off authority on tax returns prior to client delivery and filing.
• Identify tax planning opportunities, compliance risks, and technical issues during the review process.
• Serve as a technical resource and escalation point for staff on complex tax matters.
• Research and interpret federal, state, and local tax laws and regulations.
• Participate in consultations with existing and prospective clients to discuss tax needs, planning opportunities, and service solutions.
• Mentor and support tax preparers and junior team members.
• Assist with IRS and state tax notices, audits, and other tax authority inquiries.
• Stay current on tax law changes, regulatory updates, and industry best practices.
Qualifications• Active CPA license required.
• 7+ years of tax review experience in a public accounting environment.
• Experience serving in a final-review and sign-off capacity.
• Strong knowledge of federal, state, and multi-state tax compliance.
• Experience reviewing Forms 1040, 1120, 1120-S, 1065, and related returns.
• Demonstrated tax planning experience for individuals and businesses.
• Experience conducting client consultations and discussing tax strategies.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Proficiency with tax software such as CCH, UltraTax, ProSeries, or similar platforms.
