Senior Technical Business Systems Analyst - Level 2

The Senior Technical Business Systems Analyst serves as the bridge between business stakeholders and technical delivery teams. This role is responsible for gathering, analyzing, and documenting business and technical requirements; evaluating enterprise applications and system integrations; identifying solution impacts across applications, infrastructure, networking, identity, security, and support processes; and ensuring technology solutions align with business objectives and enterprise standards. The successful candidate must possess a strong technical foundation and be capable of working directly with application, infrastructure, networking, security, cloud, service management, and vendor teams without requiring foundational technical concepts to be explained. This role is expected to independently identify risks, dependencies, integration requirements, operational impacts, and implementation considerations across enterprise systems.

Major Tasks, Responsibilities, and Key Accountabilities

• Interface with business stakeholders, application owners, vendors, and IT teams to define, gather, analyze, and document business and technical requirements.
• Translate business needs into clear functional and technical specifications, process flows, system interaction documentation, and implementation requirements.
• Perform business systems and technical process analysis of existing systems, applications, workflows, integrations, and support models.
• Facilitate discovery sessions, requirements workshops, technical reviews, and stakeholder discussions to ensure business and technology alignment.
• Coordinate requirements for new and existing applications, integrations, migrations, and enterprise technology initiatives.
• Support QA, testing, training, user documentation, implementation planning, and production readiness activities.
• Develop business cases, value assessments, data analysis, risk assessments, benefits, implementation considerations, and decision-support materials.
• Coordinate project tasks and lifecycle activities for mid-size to complex initiatives, including requirements, documentation, process flows, technical dependencies, and stakeholder communication.
• Conduct root-cause analysis using knowledge of applications, interfaces, infrastructure, and technology dependencies to support defect resolution and operational improvement.
• Assist with scope definition, solution evaluation, implementation planning, and transition to support.

Technical Analysis and Solution Design

• Analyze business initiatives and identify impacts across applications, infrastructure, networking, identity management, security controls, cloud services, vendors, and integrated systems.
• Evaluate existing and proposed system designs to identify technical dependencies, integration requirements, implementation risks, support impacts, and operational considerations.
• Work directly with application owners, infrastructure engineers, network engineers, security teams, cloud administrators, service desk teams, and vendors to evaluate and implement solutions.
• Facilitate technical discovery sessions and document system interactions, data flows, integration points, application dependencies, operational handoffs, and business-critical processes.
• Create and maintain technical documentation using Microsoft Visio, including process flows, system diagrams, integration maps, application dependency maps, and technical workflow diagrams.
• Participate in solution design discussions and provide input regarding technical feasibility, supportability, scalability, sequencing, user impact, and operational risk.
• Identify integration challenges, data dependencies, authentication requirements, security considerations, support model impacts, and business continuity concerns before implementation.
• Support acquisition, integration, migration, and modernization efforts by evaluating inherited technologies, business applications, infrastructure dependencies, and transition requirements.

Application Evaluation and Technical Discovery

• Evaluate business applications and supporting technologies to determine business purpose, functional capabilities, application ownership, user groups, business criticality, support requirements, and lifecycle considerations.
• Quickly assess unfamiliar applications and identify how they are used by the business, what processes they support, what systems they integrate with, and what risks or dependencies may exist.
• Document application ecosystems, including authentication methods, data flows, integration points, infrastructure dependencies, vendor relationships, support models, access requirements, and migration considerations.
• Analyze technical and business information to support recommendations regarding application retention, consolidation, replacement, integration, migration, or retirement.
• Engage application owners, vendors, technical teams, and business stakeholders to independently develop a complete understanding of assigned applications and their enterprise impact.
• Develop application inventories, assessment notes, dependency maps, technical findings, and recommendation summaries to support integration and decision-making activities.

Required Experience

• Minimum 7 years of Business Systems Analyst experience supporting enterprise technology initiatives, integrations, migrations, application implementations, or large-scale technical programs.
• Demonstrated experience working directly with technical teams, including Infrastructure, Network, Security, Application, Cloud, Identity Management, Service Desk, Service Management, and vendor organizations.
• Strong understanding of how enterprise applications, infrastructure, networking, identity platforms, security controls, vendors, and support processes interact.
• Experience evaluating enterprise applications to determine business purpose, functional use, ownership, dependencies, integrations, support requirements, and migration or replacement impacts.
• Experience documenting application integrations, system dependencies, technical workflows, data flows, operational handoffs, and technical requirements.
• Experience supporting acquisitions, integrations, migrations, enterprise application deployments, infrastructure initiatives, or technology transformation projects.
• Advanced Microsoft Visio experience creating process flows, system diagrams, integration diagrams, application dependency maps, and technical workflow documentation.
• Strong data analysis skills with the ability to gather, interpret, validate, and analyze operational, application, support, asset, adoption, and business data to support decisions and recommendations.
• Ability to evaluate technical impacts across multiple systems and identify risks, dependencies, assumptions, and constraints before implementation.
• Ability to communicate effectively with executive stakeholders, business users, vendors, project teams, and highly technical engineering teams.
• Ability to operate with minimal technical guidance and engage technical teams without requiring foundational concepts regarding applications, integrations, infrastructure, networking, identity, or security to be explained.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience supporting mergers, acquisitions, divestitures, or large-scale integration projects.
• Experience performing application discovery, application assessments, technology due diligence, or application rationalization activities.
• Understanding of Active Directory, Entra ID, single sign-on, multi-factor authentication, identity lifecycle management, access management, and related support processes.
• Understanding of Microsoft 365 services, endpoint management concepts, infrastructure services, application integrations, and enterprise support models.
• Understanding of networking fundamentals, including DNS, DHCP, VPN, routing, switching, wireless networking, firewalls, and network segmentation.
• Experience analyzing ticket, support, asset, inventory, adoption, application, or operational data to identify trends, risks, gaps, and improvement opportunities.
• Familiarity with ITIL, ServiceNow, Jira, Azure DevOps, or other enterprise service management and work tracking platforms.
• Experience creating clear executive-ready documentation, decision summaries, issue/risk logs, action trackers, and implementation readiness materials.
