AWS is one of Amazon's largest and fastest growing businesses, serving millions of customers in more than 190 countries. We use cloud computing to reshape the way global enterprises use information technology. We are looking for entrepreneurial, analytical, creative, flexible leaders to help us redefine the information technology industry. If you want to join a fast-paced, innovative team that is making history, this is the place for you.

AWS Central Economics & Science (ACES) drives best practices for objectively applying economics and science in decision making across AWS. The team collaborates with AWS science and business teams to identify, frame, and analyze complex and ambiguous problems of the highest priority. Through data-driven insights and modeling, ACES supports strategic decision-making across the AWS global organization, including sales operations and business performance optimization.

We are hiring a Technical Product Manager (PMT) to lead a cross-functional team that uses economics and ML to help AWS to understand and optimize its sales channels. This role will be a key member of the ACES team, responsible for driving execution, aligning stakeholders, and shaping the product and technical roadmap across a broad set of partner teams.

Specifically, we're looking for someone who can help define and operationalize a growth- and business-focused vision for the team. The ideal candidate will think big and excel at translating scientific insights and ML capabilities into scalable products and actionable workflows that drive measurable business impact. This person will own end-to-end delivery, from concept through launch and iteration, ensuring that insights are effectively integrated into seller and partner tools, processes, and decision-making.

This role requires strong technical fluency to partner closely with economists, scientists, and engineers, as well as the ability to navigate complex organizational dynamics and drive alignment across teams. Experience managing ML- or data-driven products, working with embedded or central science teams, and delivering solutions that influence real-world business outcomes is highly valued.

This position offers significant scope and visibility, with opportunities to expand ownership and influence over time as the team's products scale across AWS.

Key job responsibilities

  • Project Leadership: Own end-to-end delivery of cross-functional projects to improve AWS sales channels.
  • Customer-Focused Development: Work backwards from internal and external customer needs to define requirements and drive measurable impact.
  • Stakeholder Alignment: Partner with senior leaders to drive alignment, resolve trade-offs, and ensure adoption.
  • Business Case Ownership: Define and communicate the strategic value and ROI of new initiatives.
  • Technical Partnership: Collaborate with scientists, economists, and engineers to translate insights into scalable solutions.
  • Organizational Influence: Drive execution across teams through strong communication and influence.

A day in the life

The ACES Sales Channels team works on understanding and optimizing AWS"s sales channels, both direct (generalist and specialist sellers) and indirect (partners and Marketplace). Our work falls into three core areas: developing rigorous causal measurement and modeling frameworks using cutting-edge economics and statistical methods; designing programs and incentives to improve customer and business outcomes; and building ML-based recommendation systems for sellers, partners, and other AWS stakeholders.

So far, this mindset has helped us achieve some incredible things. Let’s build new systems, challenge the status quo, and design the world we want to live in. We believe the work you do here will be the best work of your life.

Wherever you are in your career exploration, Amazon likely has an opportunity for you. Our research scientists and engineers shape the future of natural language understanding with Alexa. Fulfillment center associates around the globe send customer orders from our warehouses to doorsteps. Product managers set feature requirements, strategy, and marketing messages for brand new customer experiences. And as we grow, we’ll add jobs that haven’t been invented yet.

It’s Always Day 1
At Amazon, it’s always “Day 1.” Now, what does this mean and why does it matter? It means that our approach remains the same as it was on Amazon’s very first day – to make smart, fast decisions, stay nimble, invent, and stay focused on delighting our customers. In our 2016 shareholder letter, Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos shared his thoughts on how to keep up a Day 1 company mindset. “Staying in Day 1 requires you to experiment patiently, accept failures, plant seeds, protect saplings, and double down when you see customer delight,” he wrote. “A customer-obsessed culture best creates the conditions where all of that can happen.” You can read the full letter here

Our Leadership Principles
Our Leadership Principles help us keep a Day 1 mentality. They aren’t just a pretty inspirational wall hanging. Amazonians use them, every day, whether they’re discussing ideas for new projects, deciding on the best solution for a customer’s problem, or interviewing candidates.
