POSITION SUMMARY:

Based on site at Sampled's facility in Piscataway, New Jersey, the Senior Technical Services Engineer/Supervisor will be responsible for the effective and safe operation of the US Technical Services Team who provide Validation, Service and on-going maintenance support for Sampled's biorepository freezers and storage equipment. Focusing on internal equipment, the Senior Technical Services Engineer/Supervisor is responsible for ensuring all activities meet client requirements and are executed in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) and Quality Control standards.

The role requires daily interaction with colleagues and Sampled stakeholders regarding the on-going status and availability of storage equipment.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Ensure internal equipment is validated, serviced and maintained within regulations and always kept operational. Support will be provided for equipment at the Company’s facilities at 30 Knightsbridge, Piscataway, New Jersey.

Follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s), and ensure all work is completed safely, in a timely manner and in accordance with Good Manufacturing Practice standards (GMP).

Lead and develop departmental teams and individuals to ensure the following is achieved efficiently, accurately and in a safe manner:

Validation, Calibration and Service of:

  • Cryogenic freezers
  • ULT freezers
  • Freezers
  • Fridges
  • Stability chambers
  • Incubators
  • Warehouse and lab ambient maps

Own and maintain equipment scheduling ensuring all equipment qualified.

Develop positive relationships with internal stakeholders, applying depth of knowledge, and establishing self as the go-to person for day-to-day support. Communicate opportunities for improvement to the Sr. Director, Supply Chain & Operations Excellence.

Prepare or review quality documents including standard forms, study protocols, SOPs, change controls and deviations.

Represent the Company in client visits and/or regulatory audits

Act quickly to resolve any operational issues and escalate as appropriate.

Strive to continuously improve processes / workflows to achieve optimum effectiveness and efficiency, and consistently high standards.

Be an effective leader providing support, training, guidance and mentorship to team members.

Ensure the team remains up to date on training, including but not limited to SOP training, competency training, regulatory training and safety training.

Work across departments as required, providing advice and guidance on technical services and capabilities as required.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Previous management experience in a scientific working environment, for example Pharmaceuticals, Biobanking, Laboratory Services.
  • Experience of working and maintaining LN2 equipment preferred
  • Experience of calibration and/or validation principles preferred
  • Qualified in Electrical Engineering or HVAC engineering preferred
  • Experienced in following Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s) and meeting Regulatory requirements.
  • Familiarity of GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice)
  • Experience of a strong Health & Safety and Quality culture
  • Proven ability to deliver quality customer service and ensure issues are effectively resolved in a timely manner.
  • Excellent written communication skills with an attention to detail and record keeping.
  • Able to deliver training to / mentor team members.
  • Self-motivated and able to work well as part of a small team.
  • Able to maintain and grow relationships with internal clients.
  • Strong organizational skills, with flexibility to respond changing priorities. Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with multiple priorities.
  • Able to work independently, driven to deliver results.
  • Apply a continuous improvement approach, to achieve business excellence and support clients.
  • Willing and able to learn, with an interest in continued professional development
  • Good level of computer literacy, able to effectively use all Microsoft applications such as Word, Excel, Email, PowerPoint, and MS Teams.

Salary range $75,000 to $100,000 plus MBO Bonus Plan. Salary level will be reflective of qualifications, skills and experience.
