Position Overview
We are seeking a skilled
Software QA Engineer / Test Automation Engineer to support the testing, validation, and quality assurance of enterprise applications for the
U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ).
The successful candidate will work closely with developers, product managers, business analysts, and cloud engineers to ensure applications meet functional, technical, performance, and security requirements. The role involves manual and automated testing, API and database validation, defect management, regression testing, and integration testing across web-based applications and cloud environments.
Key Responsibilities- Develop, execute, and maintain test plans, test cases, test scenarios, and test scripts based on business and technical requirements.
- Perform manual and automated testing of web applications, APIs, integrations, and business workflows.
- Develop and maintain automated test scripts using tools and frameworks such as Playwright, Selenium, or comparable automation tools.
- Perform functional, regression, integration, smoke, and end-to-end testing.
- Validate backend data, database transactions, and data integrity using SQL queries.
- Conduct API testing using tools such as Postman or comparable tools.
- Test application workflows, user interfaces, business rules, data processing, and system integrations.
- Identify, document, track, and retest defects, working closely with developers to resolve issues.
- Support testing across Java-based applications, PHP web applications, cloud-based services, and Microsoft Dynamics 365/Power Platform solutions, as applicable.
- Participate in Agile ceremonies, requirements reviews, sprint planning, and release readiness activities.
- Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines and support continuous testing practices.
- Perform basic security and vulnerability-related validation in coordination with development and security teams.
- Support production issue investigation, root-cause analysis, and verification of fixes.
- Maintain test documentation, test results, defect reports, and quality metrics.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of testing processes, automation coverage, and overall product quality.
Required Qualifications- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- 6+ years of experience in software testing, quality assurance, or test automation.
- Experience with manual testing and test case development.
- Hands-on experience with test automation tools such as Playwright, Selenium, or similar frameworks.
- Experience with API testing and integration testing.
- Strong SQL skills and experience validating backend data and database transactions.
- Experience testing web applications and complex business workflows.
- Experience with defect tracking and test management tools such as Jira, Azure DevOps, or similar platforms.
- Understanding of software development lifecycles and Agile/Scrum methodologies.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, documentation, and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications- Experience supporting U.S. Federal Government applications.
- Experience testing Java, PHP, or Microsoft Dynamics 365/Power Platform applications.
- Experience with AWS-hosted applications and cloud-based integrations.
- Experience with Oracle, MySQL, or other relational databases.
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines and automated test execution.
- Familiarity with security testing, vulnerability scanning, and secure software development practices.
- Experience with performance testing tools such as JMeter or comparable tools.
- Experience using AI-assisted development or testing tools such as GitHub Copilot, Claude, or similar tools to improve testing efficiency.
Compensation:
The expected compensation range for this position is $65,965 - $136,794 annually. Compensation is determined in good faith and may vary based on job-related factors, including relevant experience, skills, education, certifications, clearance level, labor category alignment, contract requirements, work location, internal equity, and business needs.
The posted range reflects the Sky's reasonable estimate at the time of posting and does not guarantee a specific salary or rate. Final compensation will be determined based on the selected candidate's qualifications and applicable contractual and business considerations.
