    Description

At PMAT, we work on mission critical systems that directly support the warfighter, designing, building, and securing modern digital capabilities across cloud, data, and software environments. Our teams tackle complex, real-world challenges where delivery matters more than theory, and innovation is driven by curiosity, collaboration, and purpose.

In this role, you'll contribute to Naval Operational Architecture (NOA), working alongside engineers and operators to deliver resilient, forward-leaning solutions in support of national defense.

About the role: PMAT is seeking a highly experienced Senior Test Engineer to lead and support the planning, execution, direction, analysis, and reporting of experimental, developmental, and operational testing for advanced Navy capabilities. This role builds upon core test engineering functions by providing senior-level leadership across complex test events, cross-functional technical teams, and operational stakeholders. The candidate will support testing across operational, HWIL, virtual, and other relevant environments while helping evaluate system performance, identify risks, document findings, and inform capability development. The role requires the ability to bridge operational, technical, and executive audiences while supporting efforts involving mission engineering, fires, modeling and simulation, data analytics, communications systems, tactical networks, datalinks, and Aegis Weapon System-related capabilities, as applicable.

    Responsibilities:

Lead and support planning, execution, direction, documentation, and reporting for experimental, developmental, and operational test events across operational, hardware-in-the-loop (HWIL), virtual, and other applicable environments. Develop and coordinate test objectives, procedures, schedules, data collection plans, test reports, briefings, after-action materials, and other deliverables to ensure test activities are organized, traceable, and aligned to program objectives. Serve as a senior test lead during operational test events by coordinating participants, managing execution flow, tracking issues, capturing observations, and ensuring results are clearly documented and communicated. Coordinate cross-functional teams of engineers, developers, operators, analysts, and program personnel to support integrated testing of complex Navy capabilities across technical and operational environments. Apply experience with mission engineering, fires, modeling and simulation, and data analytics to help inform system design, operational concepts, test objectives, performance assessments, and risk-based recommendations. Support testing and evaluation of communications systems, routing, broadcast capabilities, tactical networks, datalinks, and Aegis Weapon System (AWS) related capabilities, as applicable to program needs. Provide leadership and management support within team-of-teams environments by coordinating priorities, tracking action items, communicating status, supporting issue resolution, and mentoring less experienced test personnel. Communicate test objectives, execution status, technical findings, operational impacts, risks, and recommendations clearly across operational, technical, program management, and executive audiences.

About Us: PMAT is an innovative small business founded with a passion for developing forward-leaning solutions from exceptional people that increase the missions capability. We focus on designing and building impactful digital solutions that utilize modern cloud, data, and software concepts. Our passion is working on complex and progressive challenges such as edge platform computing, containerizing legacy platforms, distributed data platforms, or heterogeneous data analysis.

We recruit, retain, and foster a team motivated to pursue passions, investigate new ways of doing things, and embody an innovative and entrepreneurial spirit. We believe in being curious about every element of a problem and experiment relentlessly. We foster continuous learning in an environment that encourages positive collaboration and expands our capabilities. We tap into collective intelligence, acknowledging that the most brilliant people may not be in the room. Above all else, we believe that delivering and demonstrating is more potent than a sheet of paper. We are passionate about mission-centric design and delivering effective capabilities to and for the warfighter.

Whether you're an experienced engineer or just beginning your career, you'll work alongside experts who are committed to solving mission-critical problems. If you're passionate about using your skills to make a real difference, apply today and become part of a team that's shaping the future of defense technology!

    Required Skills and Experience:

Extensive experience planning, test directing, executing, documenting, and reporting on operational testing. Demonstrated leadership and management capability within cross-functional technical and operational team-of-teams environments. Ability to coordinate engineers, developers, operators, analysts, and program stakeholders in support of complex test events. Experience developing or reviewing test documentation, test reports, briefings, after-action materials, and other deliverables used to capture results, observations, issues, risks, and recommendations. Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to translate technical information for operational, program, and executive audiences. Demonstrated ability to coordinate tasks, communicate status, manage stakeholders, support issue resolution, and provide senior-level test support in a dynamic program environment.

    Preferred Skills and Experience:

Experience supporting experimental, developmental, and/or operational test activities in HWIL, operational, shipboard, virtual, or similar test environments. Experience supporting mission engineering and/or fires-related efforts. Experience with modeling and simulation and data analytics to inform system design, operational concepts, test planning, or performance assessments. Experience with communications systems and routing, especially broadcast capabilities. Experience with tactical networks, datalinks, and/or Aegis Weapon System-related capabilities.
