SUMMARY:

The Senior Test Stand Technician supports the setup, operation, troubleshooting, maintenance, and continuous improvement of gearbox test stand systems.

EMPLOYEE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Responsibilities include:

  • Reports to the Production Supervisor.
  • Prepare wind gearboxes for testing operation.
  • Operate flushing systems to achieve required oil cleanliness standards.
  • Install stub shafts, couplings, adapters, instrumentation, and auxiliary test equipment.
  • Safely move and position gearboxes onto the test stand using cranes.
  • Perform gearbox setup, alignment, mounting, and connection to test stand systems.
  • Connect and verify external testing modules, sensors, instrumentation, and lubrication systems.
  • Operate gearbox test stand, monitor test cycles and record all the required data according to engineering procedures
  • Identify abnormal operating conditions and support root cause investigations.
  • Remove gearboxes from test stand after completion of testing.
  • Coordinate transfer of tested gearboxes to borescope inspection areas.
  • Troubleshoot and support maintenance of test stand electrical systems.
  • Perform electrical diagnostics using multimeters and other test instruments.
  • Support preventive maintenance and repair activities on test stand systems.
  • Assist engineering teams with test stand improvements and commissioning activities.
  • Support calibration and verification of instrumentation and testing equipment.
  • Support with less experience technicians training.
  • Support continuous improvement and 5S initiatives.
  • Adherence to safety requirements, such as PPE, chemical safety (MSDS), crane, forklift, and workstation inspections.
  • Adherence to internal systems related to Quality, ISO, and Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) to ensure an efficient, competent, and effective operation.
  • Maintain accurate testing records and documentation.
  • Participate in safety and operational meetings.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • The ideal candidate should have a minimum of 5 years of strong mechanical and electrical maintenance experience.
  • Strong hands-on experience with rotating equipment, industrial machinery, or gearbox systems.
  • Experience troubleshooting industrial electrical systems and controls.
  • Experience with motors, VFDs, sensors, industrial control systems, lubrication systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, hydraulic diagrams, mechanical drawings, engineering procedures.
  • Experience using precision measuring tools and electrical diagnostic equipment.
  • Ability to safely operate cranes and lifting equipment.
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting capability.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Strong communication and leadership skills.
  • Basic computer skills including Microsoft Office and ERP systems.

EDUCATION:

High school diploma or comparable experience in industry.

WORK CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL ENVIRONMENT:

This position works in a heavy industrial test and repair environment involving large rotating equipment, industrial electrical systems, cranes, lubrication systems, hydraulic systems, and high-energy mechanical equipment.

The employee must be able to:

  • Lift and move components weigh up to 75 pounds.
  • Stand, bend, kneel, climb, and work in physically demanding environments for extended periods.
  • Work safely around rotating equipment, high-voltage systems, hydraulic pressure, and suspended loads.
  • Work in oily, noisy, and industrial shop conditions.
  • Use hand tools, power tools, diagnostic instruments, and precision measuring equipment safely and effectively.
  • Read and interpret technical documentation, test procedures, and engineering drawings.
