Work Environment

Hybrid: Three days in-office. Locations: Lancaster, Mechanicsburg, Lehigh Valley, or Pittsburgh

Position Summary / What You'll Do

As a Senior Traffic Engineer, you will lead traffic engineering design and analysis, manage transportation projects, and serve as a technical resource to clients and colleagues. You'll play a key role in advancing RETTEW's transportation practice and ensuring high-quality project delivery.

Responsibilities / Day-to-Day

  • Lead traffic studies, signal design, corridor planning, and safety analyses
  • Manage projects from planning through delivery, ensuring technical excellence and client satisfaction
  • Coordinate with municipalities, DOTs, MPOs, and other stakeholders
  • Develop proposals, scopes, and budgets for traffic/transportation projects
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and technical staff
  • Ensure compliance with PennDOT, MUTCD, AASHTO, and related standards

Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license in PA (or ability to obtain quickly)
  • 8+ years of progressive experience in traffic engineering/transportation design
  • Proven ability to manage transportation projects and client relationships
  • Proficiency in traffic analysis/design software (Synchro, HCS, VISSIM, etc.)

Preferred:

  • PTOE certification
  • Familiarity with PennDOT ECMS and processes
  • Experience mentoring and developing engineering staff
  • Strong business development skills
