The purpose of this position is to assist and advise current and prospective transfer students in the admissions process. Recruit prospective transfer students to the University of Montevallo (UM). Establish and maintain relationships with community colleges and provide relevant knowledge in regard to UM.

Essential Job Duties

  • Contact prospective students via email, telephone, and text messaging.
  • Attend college fairs.
  • Visit community colleges and prospective transfer students.
  • Host families touring the campus.
  • Admissions staff members are responsible for reviewing and decision-making for student applicant files by evaluating standardized test scores and high school transcripts (for freshmen applicants) and college transcripts (for transfer applicants).
  • Organize student-interest receptions.
  • Organize counselors' breakfasts.
  • Attend scholarship award day events.
  • Organize invitations for fall events.
  • Update recruitment data in the Banner system.
  • Host families for Saturday tours.
  • Attend and host families for Spring, Fall and Summer preview days.
  • Meet with prospective families to review admission requirements.
  • Contact students and colleges/universities to obtain missing documentation for student applicants.
  • Manage social media account.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Knowledge of basic computer skills and programs (Microsoft, PowerPoint, excel, etc.);
  • Ability to work with SLATE, BANNER and ARGOS;
  • Excellent customer service skills;
  • Knowledge of Montevallo's campus, faculty, employees and colleges;
  • Knowledge of the admissions process;
  • Ability to communicate effectively and appropriately via email or telephone;
  • Ability to organize and manage time wisely;
  • Ability to multitask job duties and assignments.

Education and Experience

The educational requirement for this position is: Bachelor's Degree Education substituted for experience? No

This position requires: 1 year of related experience. Experience substituted for education? No
