If this describes you, we are looking for a talented and ambitious Senior Transportation Engineer in our Austin, Texas office. You will provide engineering expertise on highway projects including roadway studies and design, drainage and utility systems, preliminary and final design, preparation of construction documents, cost estimates, project scheduling, and large, complex highway corridors.This position offers exciting challenges and opportunities to develop the growing Louisiana program while managing all activities related to project scope, schedule, cost, quality, communications, and resources; mentoring young staff engineers, assisting in transportation market business development, and participating in professional organizations and technical committees.What You Will Be Doing:Lead, direct, and mentor design staff on transportation projects, including plan development for a comprehensive range of transportation design projects ranging from roundabouts to interchanges and interstate widenings. Associated tasks with these projects will include such as horizontal and vertical geometry, cross sections, earthwork modeling, 3D roadway modeling, quantities calculations, construction specifications, and utility coordinationManaging and designing projects with clients such as Texas DOT and other municipal organizationsAssist in staffing requirements and make recommendations for hiring staffAssist in the development of marketing strategies for transportation project opportunitiesAdhere to company standards for quality assurance and quality control as defined in the quality manualParticipate in project scoping, fee estimating and proposal preparation, interviews, and negotiationsReview department project(s) after award to collaborate on work procedures/sequences and developing schedules, budgets, staffing, sub consultant involvement, and progress billingsAttend on-site and off-site client meetingsEvaluate client needs and identify requirementsMeet with client management as necessary during the term of a project to resolve issues and to obtain approvals at the project's completionPrepare and modify reports, specifications, plans, construction schedules, cost estimates, environmental studies, and designs for projectsEvaluate need for design changes and makes appropriate recommendationsSubmit documents to federal, state, and local agencies for code compliance review and obtain permits when requiredRequired Qualifications:Bachelor of Science degree in Civil EngineeringA minimum of 10 years of relevant experienceTexas Professional Engineer (PE) license requiredPreferred Qualifications:Experience with the Texas Department of Transportation or similar State DOT and/or local government agencies developing, delivering, and managing highway design projects.Experience with Texas DOT design methods, plan preparation, standards and specifications or similar State DOT experienceDemonstrated capabilities and success in managing the design of medium to large multi-disciplined transportation projects, multi-office projects, and/or multiple projectsWorking knowledge of roadway design software used to prepare engineering and design documents including Microstation and OpenRoads DesignerExperienced in and fully capable of using the Microsoft software suite including Word, Excel, and Power PointExperienced in preparing technical approaches and work plans (write ups) to support RFQ's and technical proposalsProven leadership, communication, mentoring and client liaison skillsBusiness acumen including negotiation skillsEstablished relationships with key clientsStanley's Approach to FlexibilityWhile some members choose to work out of their local office on a full-time basis, we offer a hybrid schedule for eligible positions consisting of two days a week in the office, two days a week remotely, and Friday being a flexible day that can be worked either in the office or at home.
