The incumbent serves as Duty Senior who performs, assigns, schedules, directs, and controls work within the assigned area. General duties include:Weekly tracking and dissemination of advertised contracts and their changing statusesCoordination and posting of bidder inquiries & responsesAdvanced notice and coordination with District Office Engineer regarding potentially problematic contractsDownloading and distribution of bid results after each bid openingConsultation & coordination with designers of new contract award systems (currently AASTHOWARE)Analysis of bids to identify risks passed to field constructionEligibility for hire may be determined by your score on the Senior Transportation Engineer, Caltrans exam. For those who do not have current eligibility (e.g., transfer, permissive reinstatement, or voluntary demotions) and/or who will be new to state civil services employment, you must be on the state examination list to be eligible for these positions.Special RequirementsProfessional Engineer LicensePossession of a valid driver's license is required when operating a State owned or leased vehicle.Statement of Qualifications (SOQ) required.The Statement of Qualifications (SOQ) serves as documentation of each applicant's ability to present information clearly and concisely in writing.
