    Description

    A well-established civil engineering firm is seeking an experienced Director of Transportation to lead one of its largest departments. This role is based in Schaumburg, IL, with a hybrid work schedule (3 days in-office per week, with at least 5 days in-office during the first two months).

    Key Responsibilities:

    Leadership & Oversight: Manage a team of 20 professionals, including 3 Project Managers and 17 transportation staff reporting through the PMs.

    Strategic & Operational Management: Oversee county and municipal transportation projects, focusing on Phase 1 and Phase 2 of roadway, highway, and bridge design.

    Project & Client Management: Track and prioritize project backlog, ensuring client expectations are met and aligning with operational goals.

    Business Development: Drive growth by building relationships, identifying opportunities, and implementing best practices.

    Department Standards & Procedures: Establish and maintain quality standards while fostering a culture of excellence.

    Requirements:

    Professional Engineer (PE) license required.

    15+ years of experience in transportation engineering, with a strong background in roadway, highway, and bridge design.

    Proven experience leading and managing engineering teams.

    Expertise in county and municipal transportation projects (Phases 1 & 2).

    Strong leadership, communication, and business development skills.

    Compensation & Benefits:

    Salary up to $177K + annual pay increases & bonuses

    $1,000 sign-on bonus + cellphone reimbursement
