MetroPlan Orlando is seeking a motivated and collaborative transportation planning professional to join
our team. This position is being restructured following the retirement of a long-serving staff member and
offers a unique opportunity to shape and advance the region’s active transportation and safety
initiatives.


The ideal candidate is:
o Passionate about safe, multimodal transportation systems
o Comfortable working with both technical data and public-facing communication
o Able to manage projects and programs while also contributing to detailed planning work
o Collaborative and effective in working across agencies and disciplines


Key Responsibilities:
Working under the supervision of the Manager of Project Development, this role will support the
agency’s safety planning program with a focus on pedestrian and bicycle planning, data analysis, and
project management.



  • Active Transportation & Safety Planning
    o Lead MetroPlan Orlando’s pedestrian and bicycle count data collection program,
    including planning, coordination, deployment/retrieval of count equipment, and data
    management
    o Maintain trend data tracking and historic crash typing databases of pedestrian and
    bicycle crashes in the region
    o Support and advance regional bicycle and pedestrian safety initiatives
    o Serve as a subject matter resource on crash data analysis, with emphasis on pedestrian
    and bicycle safety tools and trends

  • Program & Staff Coordination
    o Provide oversight as the agency’s in-house bicycle and pedestrian planning expert
    o Coordinate with local governments, FDOT, and regional partners on safety planning
    efforts

  • Technical Analysis & Studies
    o Conduct and support special studies, including: trail master plans, feasibility studies,
    roadway safety audits, and safety-focused planning analyses
    o Interpret and communicate technical data to inform planning decisions

  • Public Engagement & Agency Coordination

  • o Prepare and deliver presentations to: technical advisory committees, elected officials
    and policy boards, community groups and the general public
    o Act as the MetroPlan Orlando liaison for select pedestrian, bicycle, safety and related
    groups including: Community Traffic Safety Teams, meetings related to FDOT’s Non-
    Motorized Traffic Monitoring program, etc.
    o Support MetroPlan Orlando’s public involvement efforts and stakeholder coordination


Preferred Qualifications:



  • Minimum Qualifications
    o Master’s degree from an accredited college or university in civil engineering,
    transportation planning or related field and three (3) years of experience; or a Bachelor’s
    degree and five (5) years’ experience in related field with a concentration in
    transportation planning and/or engineering; or may substitute an equivalent combination
    of education and experience.
    o AICP encouraged.
    o Valid driver's license required.


  • Preferred Qualifications
    o Experience with bicycle and pedestrian planning and/or safety programs
    o Familiarity with crash data analysis tools and safety performance measures
    o Experience managing or coordinating data collection programs
    o Strong communication skills, including public presentations
    o GIS and data analysis experience is a plus
    o Familiarity with Signal 4, PBCAT, and/or MioVision are a plus


Physical Requirements:
The work environment for this role is an office setting with some in-field activities. Most duties are
performed sitting at a desk or table. This position must be able to:


· Remain in a stationary position 50% of the time.
· Respond quickly to sounds and visual cues and respond to dangerous situations.
· Lift and carry, or otherwise move, 25 pounds regularly.
· Move safely over uneven terrain or in confined spaces.
· Wear personal protective gear correctly as situation requires.
· Work regularly in non-hazardous outdoor weather conditions.
