As our Senior Transportation Resident Engineer for our Construction Management team in Southern California, you'll oversee construction operations, monitor contractor performance, ensure compliance with approved plans and specifications, and mentor field staff while supporting successful project delivery.Why PsomasShared Success: An ownership culture that rewards long-term thinking and doing what's right.Retirement Benefits: Company-funded ESOP + 401(k) with immediate match.Hybrid Flexibility: Flexible hybrid work schedule.Career Growth: Structured mentorship, career pathing, and professional development.People-First Culture: Collaborative teams that invest in your technical and leadership growth.Meaningful Work: Lead transportation projects with real community impact.What You'll DoAs our Senior Transportation Resident Engineer, you will oversee and manage transportation construction projects including highways, bridges, and roadway improvements:Pre-Construction & PlanningProvide bid-ability and constructability reviews, and prepare contracts and schedules for execution.Construction Oversight & AdministrationAdminister contracts, monitor contractor performance, manage RFIs, submittals, change orders, and design change proposals to ensure projects meet approved plans, specifications, schedule, and budget.Field Staff LeadershipSupervise and mentor field staff and sub-consultants, ensuring safety, quality, and efficient operations.Stakeholder Coordination & Issue ResolutionCollaborate daily with owners, designers, contractors, inspectors, and regulatory agencies to proactively resolve project challenges.Project Documentation & Cost ManagementMaintain accurate project records, support cost tracking, and facilitate change management.Required QualificationsBachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related fieldLicensed Professional Engineer (PE) / Civil Engineer in California10+ years of construction or project management experience, including Caltrans and local agency projectsAbility to travel between project sites and office facilitiesAbility to work on-site under typical construction conditions including heights, uneven surfaces, ladders, and confined spacesProven ability to win work with public sector clientsCompensation & BenefitsSalary: $150,000 - $215,000 annually (commensurate with experience)Incentives: Discretionary performance bonus programTime Off: 4 weeks PTO plus 8 paid holidaysTotal Rewards: Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision coverage for you and your family, plus employee ownership and retirement benefitsOur Hiring ApproachOur recruiting team reviews every application personally and will keep candidates informed throughout the process.
