Senior UAS Technician

Aquinas Consulting is currently looking to fill a Senior UAS Technician job in Wilmington, MA. This FULL-TIME hire job is available with one of our key customers in the unmanned aircraft systems and aerospace industry. In this role, you will support the manufacturing, assembly, configuration, testing, and repair of high-performance UAV products in a hands-on manufacturing environment. To be successful in this position, you must have seven or more years of experience assembling electro-mechanical products, along with hands-on experience with drones, RC systems, or aerospace electronics and an FAA Part 107 Remote Pilot Certificate. Preference will be given to someone with IPC J-STD-001 soldering experience, board-level troubleshooting skills, and experience working with electronic speed controllers, power distribution boards, and integrated sensor systems. Senior UAS Technician Job responsibilities:

• Assemble and configure UAS products according to established specifications and work instructions, including configuring flight control software using Mission Planner.
• Perform and document in-process quality inspections and operational testing to verify UAS products meet requirements before delivery.
• Install and update internal drone firmware and software to ensure vehicles conform to established design standards.
• Align and calibrate critical UAS systems, including gimbals, compasses, and IMUs, and support flight testing as required.
• Perform precision soldering and board-level repairs using microscopes, including troubleshooting and repair of electronic speed controllers (ESCs), power distribution boards, and integrated sensor suites such as camera payloads, RTK, and multispectral systems.

Qualifications:

• Associate degree (A.S. or A.A.S.) or bachelor's degree in a relevant field, with seven or more years of experience assembling electro-mechanical products; hands-on experience with drones, RC systems, or aerospace electronics is required.
• FAA Part 107 Remote Pilot Certificate is mandatory for flight testing, with IPC J-STD-001 soldering experience preferred.
• Experience performing board-level troubleshooting and repair, including work with ESCs, power distribution boards, integrated sensors, camera payloads, RTK, and multispectral systems.
• Manufacturing experience with the ability to handle, manipulate, and assemble small components using a variety of hand tools and equipment, including multimeters, DC power supplies, and electronic wire strippers.
• Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills, with the ability to work independently or as part of a collaborative team, take initiative, identify process improvements, and adapt quickly in a fast-paced environment.
• Must be authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.
