Evolution offers Property and Casualty insurance solutions through a dedicated wholesale distribution model, delivering specialized expertise and underwriting capabilities across multiple product lines.

About the Role

As a Senior Underwriter, Commercial Auto on our Wholesale Casualty team, you will be responsible for building and managing a profitable portfolio of E&S Commercial Auto business throughout the Central Region. Location is flexible across Everest office locations. The position is primarily hybrid; however, remote consideration may be available for candidates with exceptional qualifications and relevant experience.

Key Responsibilities

• Underwrite new and renewal E&S Commercial Auto business, including fleet, public auto, contractor auto, transportation, and other complex vehicle-related exposures.
• Develop and maintain a profitable book of business within the assigned Central Region territory.
• Build strong relationships with wholesale broker partners and become a trusted market resource.
• Evaluate risk exposures, pricing adequacy, terms, and coverage structures to achieve profitability goals.
• Execute underwriting strategies aligned with regional growth objectives.
• Identify new business opportunities and drive brand awareness for Everest Evolution.
• Collaborate closely with Claims, Actuarial, Operations, Product, and Distribution teams.
• Monitor competitive market conditions, industry trends, and broker activity within the territory.
• Ensure adherence to underwriting guidelines, authority levels, and referral processes.

Required Experience

• 5-7+ years of commercial insurance underwriting experience.
• Strong expertise in Commercial Auto underwriting, preferably within the E&S or wholesale market.
• Experience underwriting transportation, contractor auto, trucking, specialty vehicle, or auto-focused casualty risks.
• Proven success managing broker relationships and generating new business production.
• Demonstrated ability to independently manage a book of business while maintaining underwriting discipline.

Preferred Experience

• E&S, surplus lines, or wholesale underwriting experience.
• Experience with both primary casualty and auto liability products.
• Existing broker relationships throughout the Central Region.
• CPCU, ASLI, AU, ARM, or similar insurance designations.

Knowledge, Skills & Competencies

• Expertise in Commercial Auto risk assessment and pricing.
• Strong understanding of transportation and auto liability exposures.
• Excellent broker development and relationship management skills.
• Strong sales, negotiation, and business development capabilities.
• Ability to analyze portfolio performance and make data-driven underwriting decisions.
• Strong communication and presentation skills.
• Self-starter comfortable working remotely and managing territory responsibilities independently.

The base salary range for this position is $119,000 - $150,000 annually. The offered rate of compensation will be based on individual education, experience, qualifications and work location.
