We’re hiring a Senior Underwriter to underwrite a full range of mortgage loans, including government, bond, and conventional products, while ensuring compliance with investor and internal guidelines.

This role is ideal for an experienced mortgage underwriter with deep product knowledge, a keen eye for detail, and the ability to assess risk and mentor others in a high-volume environment.

What You’ll Do:

  • Underwrite mortgage loans in accordance with investor, agency, and government guidelines (FHA, VA, USDA/RD, MHSDA, OHFA, Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac)
  • Review loan documentation, disclosures, and supporting materials to ensure completeness, accuracy, and compliance
  • Maintain and apply expertise in automated underwriting systems (DU, LP, GUS)
  • Identify and escalate potential fraud or discrepancies during the underwriting review
  • Serve as a resource for internal teams, offering guidance on scenarios and resolving escalated issues
  • Provide training and mentorship to new and existing underwriters
  • Collaborate with processors, loan officers, and closers to meet SLAs and closing timelines
  • Manage assigned loan pipeline efficiently to meet production goals
  • Maintain compliance with TRID, ECOA, HMDA, and other applicable regulations
  • Support quality control efforts and respond to audit and post-closing findings

What You Bring:

  • Minimum 10 years of mortgage underwriting experience, including government and conventional loan products and state bond programs
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; college degree in finance or business preferred
  • Extensive knowledge of mortgage processing, closing, and investor guidelines
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and mortgage loan origination systems
  • Strong analytical, decision-making, and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work both independently and collaboratively
  • Experience in training and mentoring other team members
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, high-volume environment
