Summary:
We are seeking a Senior User Experience (UX) Designer with a strong foundation in user-centered design to create intuitive, engaging, and accessible digital experiences for higher education products. This role partners closely with Product Management, Engineering, Content Strategy, Research, and Learning Science teams to design end-to-end web and mobile experiences that improve teaching and learning outcomes.
 
Responsibilities:

  • User Experience Design
  • Lead the design of complex, end-to-end user experiences from discovery through implementation and continuous iteration.
  • Design intuitive web and mobile experiences that align with user needs and business objectives.
  • Create user flows, wireframes, high-fidelity mockups, interactive prototypes, and detailed design specifications.
  • Ensure seamless developer handoff by maintaining comprehensive design documentation.
  • User Research & Validation
  • Plan and conduct user research, interviews, usability testing, and design validation activities.
  • Analyze qualitative and quantitative research findings to inform design decisions.
  • Translate research insights into actionable products and UX improvements.
  • Validate solutions using usability studies, analytics, experimentation, and A/B testing.
  • Design Systems & Accessibility
  • Contribute to and evolve the organization's design system.
  • Create reusable components and interaction patterns that support scalability and consistency.
  • Ensure all designs meet accessibility standards (WCAG) and inclusive design best practices.
  • Maintain consistency across platforms while supporting responsive design principles.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Partner closely with Product Managers to define user problems, prioritize opportunities, and establish success metrics.
  • Collaborate with Engineering throughout the development lifecycle to ensure design feasibility and quality implementation.
  • Work alongside Content Designers, Researchers, and Learning Science teams to develop impactful learning experiences.
  • Facilitate design workshops, brainstorming sessions, and stakeholder alignment meetings.
  • Strategic Design Leadership
  • Present design concepts, rationale, and recommendations to senior leadership.
  • Advocate for user-centered design principles across product teams.
  • Use product metrics and customer feedback to continuously improve experience.
  • Help define product vision and influence UX strategy.
  • Mentorship & Team Development
  • Mentor junior designers through design critiques, pair designing, and coaching.
  • Promote design best practices and foster a collaborative design culture.
  • Support continuous improvement of team processes and workflows.
  • AI & Learning Experience Design
  • Design AI-powered teaching and learning experiences.
  • Collaborate with Learning Science teams to ensure educational effectiveness.
  • Consider ethical AI principles, transparency, accessibility, and responsible design practices.
 
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in UX Design, Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), Interaction Design, Graphic Design, Psychology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 5+ years of professional UX/Product Design experience designing complex digital products.
  • Strong portfolio demonstrating end-to-end UX design process and high-quality visual design.
  • Expertise in user-centered design methodologies.
  • Experience designing responsive web and mobile applications.
  • Proficiency with Figma and modern prototyping tools.
  • Experience conducting user research and usability testing.
  • Strong understanding of interaction design, information architecture, and visual design principles.
  • Experience of collaborating within Agile product development teams.
  • Knowledge of accessibility standards (WCAG) and inclusive design.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills.
 
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience designing educational technology (EdTech) or learning platforms.
  • Familiarity with Learning Management Systems (LMS).
  • Experience working with enterprise SaaS products.
  • Knowledge of design systems and scalable component libraries.
  • Experience using product analytics tools to inform design decisions.
  • Experience facilitating design thinking workshops.
  • Understanding of AI-powered product experiences and conversational interfaces.
  • Experience mentoring or leading other designers.

Pay Transparency: The typical base pay for this role across the U.S. is: $65.00- $66.00/hour. Non-exempt positions are eligible for overtime at a rate of 1.5 times the base hourly rate for all hours worked in excess of 40 in a work week, or as required by state or local law. Final offer amounts, within the base pay set forth above, are determined by factors including your relevant skills, education and experience. Full-time employees are eligible to select from different benefits packages.
