Senior Vice President Chief Physician Executive

Reporting to the St. Joseph's Health President and Chief Executive Officer, the Chief Physician Executive (CPE) will serve as the enterprise physician leader and thought partner to the CEO. This leader will be responsible for driving strategy with physician alignment, integrated care delivery, care transformation, and fostering clinical excellence across the organization. This highly visible leader is an important contributor to the future strategic vision by assessing, prioritizing, and delivering unified, connected care across all entities within the delivery network. The CPE will guide and support the work of the Acute Care Hospitals, Medical Group, Population Health, Clinical Integrated Network, Ambulatory Care, and Care Delivery Transformation. The CPE will develop, mentor, and retain the highest level of physician leadership to create, integrate, and grow cohesion between the executive team, physicians (aligned and employed), nursing team, Department Chairs, Service Line Leaders, and St. Joseph's Health.

The CPE will advance the delivery of evidence-based, high-value, clinically excellent care. They will partner with physician leaders to reduce unwarranted variations across all sites of care, effectively connecting the quality, safety, and operations of the delivery system. As the leading physician in the organization, the CPE will align providers, develop consensus among clinical leaders and operations, and build collaborative teams to improve the health of the patient population served by St. Joseph.

The CPE will have experience in a complex, integrated delivery system on a large scale. They will be positioned to demonstrably advance clinical care delivery, the patient experience, and provider satisfaction toward St. Joseph's objective of clinical excellence across the full continuum of care. The CPE will take a highly collaborative and dynamic approach to achieving organizational goals, ensuring positive working relationships and desired outcomes. The CPE will possess exceptional relationship skills and an innovative systems approach to problem-solving, consensus-building, and advancing contemporary process improvement initiatives. They will take a team-based and dynamic approach to achieving organizational goals by forming cohesive partnerships with hospital operations and community entities. This individual will be able to understand the organization's business needs, prioritize objectives, and support the development of physician leaders to lead St. Joseph's into the future of health care.

St. Joseph's University Medical Center is an academic tertiary care medical center and state designated trauma center, located on the Paterson campus, regularly accepts referrals of difficult or unusual cases from other hospitals and physicians and performs both complex and routine procedures.
