Are you an experienced victim advocate ready to take the next step in your career? The District Attorneys Office is hiring a Senior Victim Advocate to provide compassionate, trauma-informed support to victims of crime while serving as a leader and mentor within the Victim Witness Assistance Center.
The Victim Witness Assistance Center is dedicated to reducing the trauma and insensitive treatment that victims and witnesses may experience in the aftermath of a crime. As a Senior Victim Advocate, you will play a vital role in ensuring high-quality victim services while helping to guide and support advocacy staff in delivering exceptional care. The position also offers the opportunity to serve as a liaison to the newly formed Family Justice Center of Nevada County, collaborating with multidisciplinary partners to coordinate services and improve outcomes for victims and their families.
The ideal candidate is an experienced advocate with strong communication and organizational skills, proficiency in digital case management systems, and a working knowledge of legal terminology and criminal justice procedures. This position requires the ability to manage complex cases, coordinate services, and foster collaborative relationships with law enforcement, prosecutors, community partners, and other stakeholders.

Education and Experience Required
Equivalent to college level course work from an accredited college or university in social science, behavioral science, criminology, administration of justice or a closely related field and equivalent to two years of work experience involving providing victim services, peer counseling or social service work, equivalent to Nevada Countys classification of Victim/Witness Advocate. Experience in social intervention and interviewing is desirable.

Retirement
The County is a member of the CalPERS retirement system and also provides the opportunity for voluntary contributions to a 457 deferred compensation account through Nationwide by way of pre-tax and Roth payroll deductions.
