Bring big‑part expertise to mission‑critical programs
Acme Industries machines massive, complex components for aerospace, defense, power generation, and industrial customers. We are hiring a Senior VTL Programmer‑Operator who owns large‑diameter work from setup through final inspection with minimal supervision.
The Challenge
Turn parts measured in feet to tight tolerances
Keep quality locked in across high‑mix, low‑volume work
Diagnose alarms and surface conditions fast — and keep the spindle cutting
Coordinate clean handoffs at shift change so nothing slips
Impact You Will Make
Set up and run CNC vertical turret lathes using prints, routers, and work orders
Select and install tooling, inserts, fixtures, and workholding for heavy parts; manage crane‑assisted moves safely
Monitor feeds, speeds, and tool wear; make offsets to hold spec
Perform in‑process and final inspections with micrometers, bore gages, indicators, and CMM when needed
Read blueprints and GD&T confidently and independently
Document first articles, production data, and non‑conformances accurately
Partner with the other shift at turnover; communicate priorities and open issues clearly
Share know‑how and help develop teammates through cross‑training
Must Have
5+ years of CNC VTL experience machining large‑diameter components
Proven end‑to‑end setup capability (not just button‑pushing)
Blueprint and GD&T fluency
Precision inspection skills for turned work
Comfort with crane‑assisted handling of heavy workpieces
Independent troubleshooting of alarms, tooling, and tolerance issues
Nice to Have
FANUC controls
Aerospace, defense, power generation, or heavy industrial background
