Your Impact:
The Pacific Northwest regional team within the Water Division includes staff based in our Seattle, Bellevue, Portland, and Spokane offices. The team supports state and municipal clients throughout the region, as well as multiple federal agencies. They have completed some of the most technically challenging projects in the Pacific Northwest and beyond, including:
Jan Road Levee Setback Design Project, Cedar River, King County, Washington: Enhanced flood protection, habitat restoration, and roadway protection design.
Lakemont Boulevard Culvert, Bellevue, Washington: Emergency bridge replacement for failing culvert, habitat restoration and stream design.
Columbia River Rock Dikes, Washington: Hydraulic analyses and civil design of three rock dikes to protect an island from erosion, preserve important environmental habitat, direct river flow into the navigation channel, and allow for nearshore juvenile fish passage.
San Joaquin River Restoration, California: Water resources engineering, hydraulic modeling, hydrographic surveying, and fluvial geomorphology services for the largest river restoration project ever undertaken in the United States. Tetra Tech's work included developing appraisal-level designs and cost estimates for modifications to existing structures, fish screens and bypasses, levee setbacks, river rerouting to bypass Mendota Dam, and reconnection of the floodplain and river.
Position Summary:
We're seeking a Senior Water Resources Engineer/Project Manager to join our team of engineers and scientists based in Seattle, WA. In this role, you will serve as the primary project manager for large, complex, multidisciplinary projects involving riverine infrastructure and restoration, fish passage design, stream restoration, hydrology and hydraulics, levee analysis and design, and flood protection-similar to the projects described above.
As a Project Manager, you will provide leadership by managing interdisciplinary teams, developing creative solutions, providing technical oversight, and delivering impactful projects that protect and improve our local communities.
Essential Job Functions:

Provide hands on project management and oversight of project execution by delivering projects on time, within scope, and on budget while exceeding client expectations.
Lead the development of complete engineering calculation packages and clear, well organized technical documentation.
Be the lead, or key collaborator, for fostering existing local client relationships and expanding our client base.
Establish yourself as a technical lead for hydrologic and hydraulic analyses and design, to solve large river engineering challenges.
Tackle complex engineering challenges by selecting, adapting, and innovating standard methods and, when appropriate, developing new solutions.
Champion project quality through a robust QA/QC process and proactive technical reviews.
Prepare clear, constructible contract documents, including plans, specifications, reports and addenda.
Produce and review technical reports and client deliverables with a focus on clarity and actionable recommendations.
Collaborate with our business development team to plan and execute strategies for developing new or expanding existing business opportunities that align with Tetra Tech's focus on innovative, sustainable solutions for a resilient water future.
Ability to supervise engineers based out of our Seattle office, serving as a mentor to early and mid-career engineers.
Become highly involved with supporting company risk management program and oversee quality assurance and quality control procedures as well as support financial, project management, backlog, and utilization goals.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in civil engineering, water resources engineering or similar engineering field. Master of Science (M.S.) in civil engineering is preferred.
A minimum of fifteen years of experience as a civil engineer. Your experience should demonstrate expertise in performing hydrologic/hydraulic analyses and executing or overseeing design for large, complex coastal and/or river engineering projects.
A minimum of ten years of experience managing large civil projects in the Pacific Northwest. Your project management experience should demonstrate the ability to lead a multi-disciplinary team for technically complex projects.
An active Professional Engineer (PE) certification in the state of Washington, or the ability to gain licensure in Washington within a mutually agreed-upon date.
A proven ability to lead multi-discipline engineering teams to produce high-quality drawings, calculations, specifications, and cost estimates.
Significant business development experience: identifying opportunities, leading capture efforts, and preparing persuasive proposals.
Strong technical writing, verbal communication, and presentation skills, including the ability to explain complex engineering concepts clearly.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to travel for conference events and client meetings as needed; travel is estimated at 5-10% annually, including occasional overnight travel.
Ability to sit at a workstation and work on a computer for extended periods.
Ability to communicate effectively in-person and through electronic means.
Manual dexterity to use a computer mouse, keyboard, and other tools.
Visual acuity to read and interpret technical documents.
Additional Information:
This role is based in our Seattle, Washington office and requires a hybrid work schedule of at least three days per week in the office.
This is a full-time position, typically 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday. Additional hours may be required based on project needs.
