Job Description:

As Senior Water Resources Engineer you will actively lead evaluation, design, and oversight of stormwater design projects throughout Washington and Oregon. Our uniquely broad menu of engineering and environmental services will provide you with the opportunity to collaborate on diverse project teams.

To support these projects, you will work with a team of engineers, planners, and environmental scientists to develop projects related to infrastructure improvements, flood control, fish passage, and stream stability projects. You will consistently work in a team environment with other engineers, project managers, and staff in the other company business lines.

Job Responsibilities:

In your role as Senior Water Resources Engineer, you will use your advanced skills in stormwater drainage system and flood plain modeling, stream analysis, fish passage culverts and associated design elements, and you will provide support on a variety of projects. It is expected that you will be able to carry out these duties with limited supervision. Senior leadership will be available for mentoring and guidance.

  • Participate in evaluation and design of stormwater management facilities to support commercial, industrial, residential, or public works infrastructure projects throughout Washington and Oregon.
  • Develop water system analysis and modeling for water system and storage design and fire flow determination.
  • Proactively deliver projects for a wide range of water resource projects including stream crossings, fish passage, scour analysis, water systems, and pump stations, in accordance with the scope, schedule, and budget set by the project manager.
  • Provide excellent client services related to quality and timeliness.
  • Meet and work directly with other design team members including project manager, project engineers, design technicians, drafters, surveyors, contractors, inspectors, public agency officials, and clients.
  • Under general supervision, develop civil engineering construction plans using AutoDesk Civil 3D.
  • Apply knowledge of local, state, and federal stormwater management design standards to projects.
  • Provide office and site visit support for projects in construction.
  • Detail project analysis and design in technical memos and reports for jurisdictional review and approval.
  • Provide oversight and mentoring of entry level staff.
  • Establish client connections and represent the company positively in all outside interactions.
  • Assist with business development efforts, preparing proposals and participating in interviews as needed.
  • Actively participate in professional organizations.

Minimum Qualifications Include:

  • BS in Civil Engineering with an emphasis in Water Resources. Master’s Degree is highly desirable.
  • Registered Professional Engineer in Washington.
  • 4+ years of experience as a hydrology and hydraulic design engineer with general civil and water resource design experience.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD/Civil3D, and/or Microstation/Inroads.
  • Proficiency with stormwater management design software including HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS, HydroCAD, WWHM/HSPF
  • Familiarity with GIS applications related to stormwater modeling.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Registered Professional Engineer in Oregon or ability to obtain with 6 months.
  • At least 8 years water resources design experience.
  • Water system design experience using EPAnet or similar.
  • Familiarity with modeling systems in StormShed SRH-2D, SWMM, and HY-8.
  • Experience leading teams and some project management experience.
