Senior WordPress Web Developer (Enterprise Websites)
Location: Fully Remote (U.S.)
Employment Type: 12-Month W2 Contract
Compensation: $70-$78/hour W2 (based on experience)
Company: Russell Tobin is supporting a leading global technology organization in the search for a Senior WordPress Web Developer to join their Central Web Development team.
About the Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced Senior WordPress Web Developer to help build, maintain, and enhance large-scale marketing and informational web properties. This role is ideal for a developer who thrives in a fast-paced environment, enjoys solving complex technical challenges, and has a strong foundation in enterprise WordPress development.
This position will focus on developing new features, maintaining existing WordPress applications, improving site performance, and supporting high-visibility web experiences used by millions of users worldwide. The ideal candidate brings a security-first mindset, strong PHP and JavaScript expertise, and experience working with modern AI-assisted development tools.
This is a 12-month W2 contract opportunity with potential for extension based on performance and business needs.
What You'll Do
Required Qualifications
5+ years of professional web development experience.
Proven experience developing WordPress websites and applications using PHP and JavaScript.
Demonstrated experience building custom WordPress themes and plugins from scratch.
Strong understanding of WordPress architecture, including:
Hooks and filters
WordPress PHP APIs
Block Editor (Gutenberg)
REST API
Strong proficiency with HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and modern web development best practices.
Experience optimizing website performance and troubleshooting production issues.
Knowledge of web accessibility, maintainability, and responsive design principles.
Experience working independently and managing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
