Job Title: Senior Workday Extend Developer / Consultant

Location: Bay Area, CA (Mountain View / San Jose)

Position Overview

The ideal candidate will lead the design, development, and deployment of custom applications within the Workday Extend platform. The primary focus of this role is HRSS Tools Consolidation, specifically architecting applications that replace legacy HR tools and automate high-impact operational processes such as enterprise-wide employee offboarding administration. You will act as a bridge between complex business objectives and scalable technical frameworks within a massive, fast-paced corporate infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

• Build Workday Extend Apps: Design, test, and deploy enterprise-level custom applications within the Workday Extend framework to automate workflows and transition legacy systems into core HR architecture.
• UI & Data Modeling: Create page layouts, custom business processes (BPs), custom objects, and specialized field components using the Workday Extend App Builder.
• Workflow Automation: Leverage Workday Orchestrations to automate multi-step HR processes, heavily minimizing manual team intervention.
• Integration Engineering: Build secure integration pathways connecting Workday Extend apps with Workday Core HCM, Payroll, and external third-party cloud applications using REST/SOAP APIs and Workday Studio.
• Stakeholder Collaboration: Lead discovery workshops and design assessment sessions with Business Systems Analysts, Product Managers, and HR leaders to translate strict business logic into efficient code.
• Security & Governance: Ensure all custom-built apps adhere strictly to security groups, enterprise technology standards, data privacy laws, and tenant-management best practices.

Required Technical Skills & Qualifications

• Workday Extend Experience: 3+ years of direct, hands-on experience building apps using Workday Extend, App Builder, Page Builder, and Orchestrations.
• Core Workday Ecosystem: 5+ years of broader Workday experience (specifically Custom Reporting, Calculated Fields, Business Process Framework, and Security Groups).
• Integrations Tech Stack: Deep proficiency in Workday Studio, Enterprise Interface Builders (EIBs), PECI, Document Transformation, XML, XSLT, and JSON.
• Web Services & Code: Strong background handling REST/SOAP APIs, web service technologies, and programming principles (TypeScript/JavaScript/XO framework is a major plus).

Certifications: Workday Extend Certification or Workday Integration Certification is highly preferred.
