    Description

    SummarySenior Youth Leader, under the supervision of a Recreation Specialist and Program Coordinator, will lead and supervise Afterschool participants, and other various recreational activities. This is a seasonal position. Must be available to work flexible hours including weekends and holidays and help in other divisions as needed.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities

    Ensures the safety and well-being of program participantsSupervises children aged 5-13 in various indoor and outdoor settings, adapting to different weather conditionsDevelops, leads, and supervises at assigned recreation programs/activities, after school sites, recreation centers, rental facilities, and events for participants of all agesServes meals and snacks to program participants as neededLeads and supervises assigned Youth Leader teamDevelops and implements lesson plans for children ages 5-13 in areas of recreation, adventure, education, and enrichmentProvides exceptional service without exception; effectively communicates with children, parents, co-workers, and other City employeesReceives money, records registration, and membership informationPerforms facility attendant duties for recreation centers and rental facilitiesOversees inventory and property management.Performs daily tasks to include cleaning, answering phones, and general office related tasksMaintains essential records, prepares reports as required; to include but not limited to participation reports, usage reports, accident reports, and work ordersFollows City policies, procedures, and safety guidelinesPerforms other duties as assigned

    Minimum Qualifications

    Completion of two (2) years of high schoolEquivalent of one season working in a childcare environment (one (1) school year)

    Preferred Qualifications

    One (1) year experience working in a related fieldBilingual in English and Spanish

    Certificates and Licenses

    Valid driver's licenseCPR and First aid or able to attain within 90 daysFood handler license or able to attain within 90 days
