The YMCA of Pierce and Kitsap Counties is seeking a Senior Youth Program Director to join our team.

This position supports the work of the Y, a leading non-profit, charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility.
The Senior Youth Director oversees and is responsible for the creation, planning, and evaluation of youth, teen and family programs. Responsible for recruiting, hiring, training, supervising, and evaluating employees and volunteers to ensure staff are representative of the mission of the YMCA. Provides a quality experience to members focused on YMCA core values: honesty, respect, responsibility, and caring.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop, implement, and manage operating plans to promote youth programs and/or membership growth for the YMCA.
- Execute strategies to ensure that members and/or program participants connect with one another and connect with the YMCA.
- Assure compliance with state and local regulations.
- Ensure that program standards are met, and safety procedures are followed.
- Ensure high quality member-focused programs through innovative program development, evaluations, and ongoing training of staff.
- Coordinate special events and activities.
- Collaborate with the Association Operational Focus Groups and other directors of YMCA PKC centers to ensure consistent association-wide programming.
- Respond to all member and community inquiries and complaints in a timely manner.
- Develop and control department budgets related to the position.
- Hire, train, and supervise staff and volunteers in assigned areas.
- Review and evaluate staff performance.
- Develop strategies to motivate staff and achieve goals.
- Review, approve, and submit staff timecards to payroll department per schedule.
- Track volunteer hours and record appropriately.
- Schedule shifts and process time off requests for staff.
- Responsible for overseeing the entire department and therefore, the schedule varies depending on the program, activity, meetings and special events.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in human services, social services, recreation, business or equivalent.
- Four or more years of program management experience, preferably in a YMCA or other nonprofit agency.
- Knowledge of and experience in directing programs through supervision of volunteers and staff, development and monitoring of budgets, marketing and public relations, program development and fund-raising.
- Positive attitude and previous experience with diverse populations.
- Demonstrated skills in customer service, public relations, organizational skills, communications, supervision, computer knowledge, and file maintenance.
- YMCA Team Leader or Multi-team/Branch Leader certification preferred.
- YMCA Lifeguard or equivalent, CPR for the Professional, AED First Aid, and Oxygen certification, or ability to obtain within 90 days.
- Complete online Child Abuse Prevention training on first day. Complete other online and in-person training as required.
Compensation: $80,168.40 to $82,168.40 per year (Compensation is determined based on relevant experience, skills, and qualifications, with most new hires starting between the minimum and midpoint of the posted wage range)
