Senior zTPF Systems Engineer

We are seeking a high-caliber Senior zTPF Systems Engineer to join a mission-critical team in Washington, D.C., supporting one of the nation's most vital transportation networks. This role is designed for a technical expert who bridges the gap between high-performance legacy mainframe systems and modern digital architecture. You will be responsible for developing and optimizing high-volume reservations applications, leveraging a deep mastery of zTPF Assembler and C++ to ensure seamless integration with modern Web Services and API frameworks. Key Responsibilities

• Application Development: Design, code, and test complex zTPF application logic using Assembler, C, and C++ within a high-availability environment.
• System Integration: Build and maintain robust interfaces between TPF and external systems using MQ, JSON/XML, and SOA principles.
• Modernization: Utilize the TPF Toolkit and SDLC best practices to transition legacy reservation functionalities into modern, API-driven architectures.
• Data Management: Manage complex data structures using TPFDF to ensure high-speed processing and data integrity.
• Collaboration & Testing: Lead end-to-end testing cycles using Postman for API validation and collaborate with cross-functional teams to troubleshoot high-priority system issues.
• Performance Tuning: Analyze system performance and implement optimizations to handle large-scale transactional workloads typical of the travel and rail industry.

Qualifications

• Core Expertise: Extensive professional experience in zTPF development, specifically within the travel, airline, or rail sectors.
• Technical Proficiency: Advanced command of zTPF Assembler, C/C++, and TPFDF.
• Modern Connectivity: Proven experience working with Web Services, RESTful APIs, JSON/XML, and IBM MQ.
• Tooling & Process: Deep familiarity with TPF Toolkit, Postman, and standard SDLC methodologies.
• Analytical Background: Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to navigate complex, integrated system architectures.
• Preferred Experience: Prior experience with Client systems or large-scale passenger reservation systems is highly desirable.
• Soft Skills: Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a collaborative, fast-paced corporate environment.
