Description
Northrop Grumman Space Systems is seeking an Electrical Engineer / Principal Electrical Engineer to join the test design and analysis team as part of the Integration Assembly Test and Checkout (IATC) element of the Command and Launch (C&L) segment. This position will be located in Roy, UT and will support the Ground Based Strategic Deterrent (GBSD) program. Final grade level offered will be based on candidate experience.
What Youll Get To Do
The selected candidate will join a system integration lab design team planning, designing, and implementing test-specific mechanical and electrical systems and instrumentation. You will use your critical thinking and technical problem-solving skills to design solutions to challenging problems through the development of Product Definition Packages (PDP). Candidate must be able to work independently, handle multiple assignments in a dynamic environment, and be flexible to changing direction. Specific roles and duties include:
• Design of cables and wiring harnesses. • Design of mounting solutions for electronic components. • Design of instrumentation systems for collecting thermal, stress/strain, and current/voltage information from systems under test. • Work across disciplines and functional groups to maintain list of measurements and instrumentation requirements. • Lab floorplan and interconnect diagram design/maintenance. • Some travel may be required to Promontory, UT, Colorado Springs, CO, and/or Vandenberg SFB, CA.
Basic Qualifications
This requisition may be filled at either the Electrical Engineer level (T-02) or Principal Electrical Engineer level (T-03).
Electrical Engineer:
• Bachelors degree with 2 years of experience or Masters degree with 0 years of experience; 4 additional years of experience may be considered in lieu of degree. • 2+ years of experience using CAD design tools (i.e. NX, CATIA, Capital, etc.). • 2+ years of cable/harness design experience, especially following military, Northrop Grumman, and or aviation standards. • 2+ years of experience with electro-mechanical or instrumentation system development and design.
Principal Electrical Engineer:
• Bachelors degree with 5 years of experience; or Masters degree with 3 years of experience; or PhD with 1 year of experience; 4 additional years of experience may be considered in lieu of degree. • 5+ years of experience using CAD design tools (i.e. NX, CATIA, Capital, etc.). • 5+ years of cable/harness design experience, especially following military, Northrop Grumman, and or aviation standards. • 5+ years of experience with electro-mechanical or instrumentation system development and design.
Required for Both Levels:
• Must have an active U.S. Government DoD Secret security clearance at time of application, current and within scope, with an ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) approval within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the company to meet its business need. • Ability to operate independently with minimal supervision. • Ability to communicate effectively with customer counterparts and other engineering disciplines.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Electrical Engineering degree or similar • Has been previously approved for Special Access Program (SAP) • Experience in ICBMs or Aerospace programs • Experience in creating a PDP or PDP-like PLM product • Experience with NX and Teamcenter or similar CAD program • Experience with Siemens Capital (AKA Mentor Capital) or similar E-CAD program • Experience with Cameo and/or DOORS • Experience with Scrum, Agile, and Model Based Systems Engineering • Strong sense of urgency and work ethic in ensuring engineering meets customer and program expectations in a timely and efficient manner • Experience in leading/supporting a development engineering team

This positions standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off.
