SUMMARYThe Maintenance Electrician is responsible for installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting electrical systems and equipment in a chlorine production facility. This includes critical support for DC rectifier systems used in electrochemical processes, as well as on-site power generation equipment. The role requires a high level of technical skill and adherence to strict safety and environmental standards associated with hazardous chemical operations.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESMay include, but are not limited to, the following:Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on AC and DC electrical systems, including low- and medium-voltage power distribution (up to 69 kV).Troubleshoot, and repair DC rectifier systems used in the chlorine electrolysis process, ensuring reliable and efficient operation.Maintain and support on-site power generation equipment, including switchgear, generator controls, protective relays, and synchronization systems.Troubleshoot motor control circuits, variable frequency drives (VFDs), lighting systems, and control panels.Isolate and verify de-energization of equipment using lockout/tagout procedures per NFPA 70E and plant safety protocols.Use diagnostic tools such as multimeters, insulation resistance test sets, and thermal imagers to analyze and resolve electrical issues.Read and interpret electrical schematics, one-line diagrams, and DC system prints.Perform maintenance on protective relays, transformers, and ground fault systems.Support operations during plant upsets, startups, shutdowns, and scheduled turnarounds.Accurately document maintenance activities and create notifications utilizing the works management process through SAPWork safely in hazardous environments, including Class I, Division 2 areas. EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONSHigh school diploma, GED, or equivalent.Minimum combination of 5 years relevant training and industrial journeyman Electrical experienceAssociate's degree in electrical technology or equivalent field is preferred.A background in electronics, computer literacy, maintenance experience, and troubleshooting skills desiredExcellent Mechanical Aptitude and the ability to comprehend and apply technical and service manual information.Must be able to acquire and maintain a TWIC (Transportation Worker Identification Credential)Effective verbal and written communication skills.Westlake offers you the potential to enrich your work life and career experience in an entrepreneurial environment.
