About the Role:
Join our vibrant team at State House 38 as a Server in Commerce City, CO!  As a Server, you provide friendly, accurate, and timely table service to create a great guest experience. You guide guests through the menu, take orders, deliver food and beverages, process payments, and maintain a clean and organized dining area while following all food safety and responsible alcohol service standards. 


 


DUTIES: 
  • Greet guests promptly, introduce yourself, and create a welcoming first impression.
  • Explain menu items, daily specials, ingredients, and preparation methods; answer questions and accommodate reasonable dietary requests.
  • Take accurate food and beverage orders using the POS system; verify modifiers and timing.
  • Coordinate with kitchen and bar to ensure correct, timely delivery of orders; communicate delays and resolve issues quickly.
  • Deliver food and beverages safely; check back to confirm satisfaction and handle refills and additional requests.
  • Process payments accurately (cash and credit), follow cash-handling procedures, and provide receipts/change as needed.
  • Maintain section cleanliness (tables, chairs, floors) and reset tables according to standards.
  • Follow food safety, sanitation, and allergy awareness practices; comply with responsible alcohol service requirements and check IDs when required.
  • Support teamwork by assisting hosts, bussers, bartenders, and fellow servers during peak periods.
  • Complete opening/side-work/closing duties (stocking, rolling silverware, condiments, cleaning, etc.).
  • Report guest concerns, incidents, and maintenance needs to a manager promptly.

SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS:
 
  • Prior restaurant or customer service experience preferred; will train the right candidate.
  • Strong guest-service mindset with clear communication and active listening skills.
  • Ability to multitask, stay organized, and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Basic math skills and comfort using a POS system.
  • Professional appearance and positive, team-oriented attitude.
  • Ability to resolve common guest issues with tact and urgency.
  • Stand and walk for extended periods during shifts.
  • Lift and carry trays, plates, and supplies (up to approximately 25–35 lbs, with or without reasonable accommodation).
  • Bend, reach, and move safely in tight spaces around guests and equipment.
  • Work in environments with heat, noise, and common kitchen/cleaning chemicals
EXPERIENCE:
  • Restaurant/Industry: 1 year (Preferred)

PAY:
  • Serving rate of pay - $12.14 plus tips
  • Regular rate of pay - $15.16
  • Competitive hourly pay + tips
