Job Description
The Server is responsible for courteously serving resident and guest meals, and for clean-up and resetting of dining room following meal service.Job ResponsibilitiesAssist residents when placing orders from the menu.Provide beverage service, including water, iced tea, juices, milk, coffee, and tea.Refill salt, pepper, and sugar bowls before and after each meal.Report any broken equipment or tableware to the supervisor.Demonstrate an understanding of sit-down service and proper serving techniques.Maintain a basic understanding of food preparation, including salads, desserts, and other menu items.Demonstrate knowledge of proper food storage and labeling techniques.Sweep, mop, and vacuum the kitchen and dining room.Attend all required in-service training and staff meetings.Complete all other duties as assigned.Remain attentive to the special needs of residents, including mobility limitations, memory impairment, and other individual care needs.Assist with tray service as needed.Follow confidentiality policies and procedures regarding the release of resident information.Interact with residents, guests, co-workers, and supervisors in a polite, respectful, and considerate manner.RequirementsMust wear a clean, designated uniform during working hours and maintain good personal hygiene.Must be able to read and follow simple instructions.Must possess the ability to perform simple, repetitive tasks.Must be able to learn quickly and apply learned principles to assigned duties.Must be able to communicate effectively and work under close supervision.Must be able to bend, reach, grasp, push, and pull objects.Must be able to stand and walk for sustained periods of up to three (3) hours at a time.Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds on a regular basis and carry heavy objects up to 20 feet.Must be organized and willing to work effectively with other team members.Must be willing to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.We are an Equal Opportunity Employer and do not discriminate against any employee or applicant for employment because of race, color, religion, sex (including pregnancy, gender identity, and sexual orientation), national origin, age, disability, genetic information, or any other legally protected status.
