Position Summary The Server is responsible for providing exceptional food and beverage service in our dining rooms, bar/lounge areas, and banquet facilities while creating a welcoming and memorable experience for members and guests. Successful candidates will possess strong service skills, menu knowledge, wine and beverage expertise, and the ability to work collaboratively within a team-oriented environment. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Deliver exceptional service in dining rooms, bar/lounge areas, and banquet functions. Follow all established Big Canoe POA policies, procedures, and service standards. Maintain cleanliness and organization of dining rooms, service stations, equipment, glassware, utensils, storage areas, and common spaces. Follow established table setting, order-taking, and sequence-of-service procedures. Develop and maintain knowledge of menu items, daily specials, wine selections, ingredients, preparation methods, and garnishes. Greet members and guests professionally and courteously, providing personalized service whenever possible. Maintain positive relationships with members, guests, and fellow team members. Communicate member concerns or complaints immediately to supervisors or management. Complete all assigned opening, closing, and side-work duties. Set up and break down dining rooms, banquet rooms, buffet stations, tables, chairs, and event spaces. Operate the POS system accurately, including opening and closing checks, processing payments, and communicating orders to the kitchen. Assist with daily reporting and end-of-shift procedures. Demonstrate knowledge of wine, spirits, cocktails, and beverage service standards. Assist with receiving, stocking, and maintaining inventory of liquor, beer, mixers, and garnishes. Maintain awareness of safety procedures, emergency protocols, and fire/life safety standards. Secure the clubhouse according to established closing procedures. Anticipate member and guest needs while providing prompt, attentive service. Display professionalism, urgency, and a team-first attitude in all situations. Perform additional duties as assigned. Qualifications Required High School Diploma or equivalent preferred. Minimum of one (1) year of experience serving in a full-service restaurant, country club, resort, hotel, upscale casual dining establishment, or high-volume dining environment. Strong understanding of food and beverage service standards and POS systems. Excellent communication and guest service skills. Ability to multitask and manage multiple tables while maintaining service excellence. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Basic math and cash-handling skills. Ability to learn and retain extensive menu, beverage, and wine knowledge. Preferred Experience in private clubs, golf clubs, resorts, hotels, or upscale restaurant concepts. Banquet, event, or fine dining service experience. Knowledge of wine service, spirits, and current beverage trends. Experience following formal service standards and sequence-of-service procedures. Familiarity with multiple styles of service, including banquet and fine dining service. Physical Requirements Ability to stand and walk for extended periods. Ability to bend, reach, lift, pull, and push as required. Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds. Ability to carry food and beverage trays weighing 25–50 pounds. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, including exposure to kitchen heat and varying temperatures. Requirements Must be at least 18 years of age. Must be authorized to work in the United States. Must be able to pass a background check and drug screening. Must be able to obtain any required server permits or certifications. |
