About Nagi by SoHo Sushi

Opening its doors in 30 days, Nagi is a new, elevated dining concept brought to you by the creators of SoHo Sushi. Nagi combines the rich tradition of an authentic Japanese izakaya, a precision sushi bar, and an intimate, craft-focused Japanese whiskey lounge. We deliver high-energy yet polished service in a sophisticated, design-forward environment.

Position Summary

We are seeking refined, detail-oriented, and passionate Servers to join our opening team. As a front-of-house ambassador for Nagi, you will guide guests through an elevated culinary journey—pairing izakaya small plates, pristine sushi, and rare Japanese spirits with seamless, intuitive hospitality.

Key Responsibilities

  • Guest Experience & Storytelling: Articulate deep menu knowledge, including Japanese culinary techniques, izakaya culture, fish origin, and beverage pairings (Japanese whiskey, artisanal sake, and crafted cocktails).

  • Polished Table Service: Execute fine/elevated dining service standards, including proper course orchestration, table maintenance, wine/sake presentation, and precise plate placement.

  • Opening Operations: Participate actively in comprehensive pre-opening training, spirit tastings, menu exams, and venue setup ahead of our launch.

  • Section Management: Maintain control over assigned dining areas with speed, grace, and an eye for ambient detail (lighting, cleanliness, pacing).

  • Team Collaboration: Work seamlessly with the sushi chef team, kitchen line, floor management, and lounge bartenders to ensure flawless timing and presentation.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Experience: 2+ years of server experience in an elevated, upscale, or fine dining establishment.

  • Beverage & Culinary Aptitude: Base knowledge of Japanese cuisine, sushi terminology, sake classifications, and spirit profiles (specifically whiskey) is strongly preferred; a passion for continuous learning is required.

  • Professionalism: Impeccable personal presentation, polished communication skills, and a warm, inviting presence.

  • Flexibility: Availability to work nights, weekends, holidays, and attend mandatory all-hands training sessions during the 30-day runway to opening.

What We Offer

  • Comprehensive pre-opening training in Japanese spirits, sake, and culinary arts.

  • Opportunities for internal growth and advancement within the company portfolio.

  • Employee dining discounts and a supportive, team-centric culture.
