Job Description:

Position Overview

Illumynt operates in the IT Asset Disposition (ITAD) industry, supporting data centers and enterprises as they refresh, decommission, and securely dispose of IT hardware. The Server Area - Testing Technician is a hands-on entry point into enterprise IT and data center operations, focused on testing, validating, and logging enterprise server components pulled from de-racked equipment. Full training is provided on all tools, test setups, and logging systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Receive servers and server components from de-racking or incoming staging areas.
  • Install components (CPUs, memory, drives, RAID controllers, NICs) onto prepared test benches/motherboards.
  • Power on test systems and run standardized stress/diagnostic tests to validate functionality.
  • Monitor for issues such as overheating, boot errors, or hardware faults; troubleshoot boot errors and update BIOS as needed.
  • Capture make, model, and serial numbers and record test results (pass/fail, notes) in CNEs asset tracking software.
  • Sort and categorize tested components by condition (good, repairable, scrap) and apply appropriate labels.
  • Perform light part-swapping and level-one repair as needed.
  • Maintain accurate, detailed testing and data-erasure records.
  • Follow ESD (electrostatic discharge) and EHS safety practices at all times.
  • Keep the workstation clean, organized, and free of debris.
  • Lift and move equipment up to 50 lbs.

Qualifications

  • Basic understanding of enterprise IT hardware (servers, CPUs, memory, drives, RAID, NICs).
  • Interest in hands-on IT experience; someone who has built a PC or pursued IT coursework is a strong fit.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Basic computer literacy and ability to follow structured workflows and logging procedures.
  • Familiarity with ITAD, data erasure software, or test tools is a plus.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and handle equipment safely.
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Reliable transportation required.

What We Offer

  • Full training on enterprise IT equipment, test setups, and industry-standard tools.
  • Hands-on experience in enterprise IT and data center operations.
  • A supportive, team-driven environment.
  • Advancement opportunities in a rapidly growing ITAD company expanding into a new 100,000 sq. ft. facility.
