San Francisco Meat Co. is looking to employ 1 full-time Service Clerk for our butcher shop located in the heart of San Francisco. We are family owned and proud to work closely with vendors, customers, and our internal team to provide the highest quality meat and the most trusted customer service.
We're looking for someone who prefers sales over operations — that doesn't mean they won't pitch in operationally, but they should be more willing and able to create a welcoming environment, understand what clients are looking for, and upsell. Service clerks will work directly with customers and must have great customer service and sales skills.
Job duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Greeting every customer and creating a warm, welcoming shopping experience
- Taking time to understand what customers are looking for and recommending products accordingly
- Actively upselling and suggesting complementary items to grow department sales
- Providing customers with helpful, friendly, and prompt service
- Product knowledge (cooking methods, recipes, signature items) to make informed recommendations
- Weighing, wrapping, and pricing meat for customers
- Maintains company and food safety guidelines, sanitation and refrigeration standards
- Prepares and displays product for quality and appearance
- Performs opening and closing procedures to company and food safety guidelines standards with respect to sanitation, display, and handling responsibilities
- Maintains ordering and receiving standards by communication and follow through with department manager
- Works within company programs, policies, and procedures
- Prep ingredients for sandwiches
- Make sandwiches
- Sell and wrap meat from the case
- Check out customers
- Other duties as assigned
Hourly Rate:
- $21.00 + tips
