1836 HD is expanding and is looking for an organized, customer-focused Service Coordinator / Service Writer to become the primary point of contact for customers throughout Central Texas.

This position is much more than a traditional dispatcher. You'll serve as the customer's advocate from the initial phone call through scheduling, technician communication, repair updates, warranty coordination, payment collection, and final customer follow-up.

This is an in-shop position supporting our Seguin headquarters and Canyon Lake operations. You'll work directly with technicians, customers, vendors, warranty providers, and executive leadership to ensure every repair is handled professionally from beginning to end.

What You'll Do

• Answer inbound customer calls, emails, text messages, and online service requests.
• Qualify new customers and create service opportunities.
• Schedule and dispatch both shop and mobile technicians throughout Central Texas.
• Build and manage repair orders from start to finish.
• Communicate repair progress with customers.
• Explain repair recommendations, timelines, and estimates.
• Coordinate approvals with warranty companies and third-party providers.
• Order parts and coordinate delivery for shop and field technicians.
• Track job progress and keep technicians informed.
• Assist with estimates, invoicing, payment collection, and vehicle delivery.
• Perform customer follow-up and final quality assurance calls.
• Maintain accurate customer records using CRM and service management software.
• Support executive leadership with administrative and operational tasks as needed.

Preferred Experience

Experience in one or more of the following industries is highly preferred:

• Heavy-duty truck service
• Diesel repair
• RV service
• Fleet maintenance
• Automotive dealership service departments
• Equipment service
• Commercial transportation

Previous experience as a:

• Service Writer
• Service Advisor
• Dispatcher
• Service Coordinator
• BDC Representative
• Customer Success Representative
• Operations Coordinator

is strongly preferred.

Sales experience and customer relationship management experience are also considered strong assets.

Qualifications

• College degree strongly preferred but not required.
• Candidates without a degree will absolutely be considered if they demonstrate exceptional experience, intelligence, professionalism, and communication skills during the interview process.
• Minimum two years of customer service, service writing, dispatch, or coordination experience preferred.
• Experience in the heavy-duty diesel, RV, commercial fleet, equipment, or automotive industries is strongly preferred.
• Strong Microsoft Office 365 skills, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and Teams.
• Comfortable learning CRM and service management software such as Housecall Pro, Fullbay, Salesforce, or similar platforms.
• Excellent typing, documentation, and written communication skills.
• Professional phone presence and exceptional organizational abilities.
• Ability to prioritize multiple active repair orders while maintaining outstanding customer service.

Compensation

Hourly Rate

• $18–$25/hour for candidates with less than three years of relevant experience.
• Candidates earning above $22/hour should demonstrate exceptional communication skills, professionalism, organizational ability, and aptitude.
• Up to $30/hour for experienced Service Coordinators, Service Writers, Service Managers, or individuals with proven leadership and operational management experience.

Monthly Performance Bonus

This position also participates in our performance incentive program.

Service Coordinators who achieve $100,000 in monthly gross profit from the repair orders they write and manage become eligible for a 2.5% override on the gross profit generated from those repair orders, subject to company policy and performance standards.
