SummaryThe Service Coordinator facilitates communication between the public, utility crews, foremen, and managers to ensure citizen safety, environmental protection, and compliance with state and federal regulations. This position is in constant phone and radio contact with utility staff to order parts, secure equipment, and request utility locates before excavation begins. Additionally, this role plays a vital part in emergency response efforts.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Answers telephone and dispatches calls related to reported health and/or safety issuesEnters citizen-reported water and/or wastewater concern into system and dispatches service technicians for evaluationResearches and processes requests for new construction connections to water and wastewater servicesOrders parts, contacts 811 for locates, monitors radio, and directs unitsMaintains records; enters daily data for work orders, customer complaints and action itemsDevelops reports as required by state and federal regulationsAssists with the new hire onboarding process (e.g., coordinating PPE, uniforms, and boots) and enters daily time worked into the systemProvides resources, supplies, and city-wide messages to field staff who do not have a city email addressPicks up and distributes mail; sorts and routes all incoming and outgoing mail and correspondence to City DepartmentsAssists with coordinating monthly departmental meetings and preparing meeting informationAssists in preparation and organizing various events for department, safety training, and other activitiesPerforms periodic on-call duty on a rotating basisCompletes cost estimates relating to water and sewer tapsFollows City policies, procedures, and safety guidelinesPerforms other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalentOne (1) year of experience in customer service or related area
Preferred Qualifications
Work experience with Water and Wastewater and related terminology
Certifications and Licenses
Valid driver's license
