Salary Range

$16.56-$17.88 or pre the Collective Bargaining Agreement. Maximum salary upon new hire is $16.56.

Working Hours and/or Working Conditions

To be scheduled by the department as needed, but not to exceed 28 hours per week. Days and hours may vary and may include evenings and/or weekends.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Knowledge of computer hardware and a range of software applications in order to provide user support. Strong research, troubleshooting and resolution skills required. Ability to learn new systems and technologies quickly. Requires follow-up and documentation skills. Calls for excellent customer interface and customer satisfaction skills. Must be able to demonstrate the ability to communicate effectively and diplomatically, in both oral and in written form. Ability to work well with others and to use time effectively. Must possess a team player attitude, which includes a strong desire to learn from and share new skills, techniques, and knowledge with other team members.

Supervision

Reports to the Service Desk Manager; may also take direction from full-time Service Desk Technicians.

Job Function

The service desk is the central point of contact for IT services and support for the College staff, faculty and students.

Job Responsibilities

  • Support College owned hardware, peripherals, operating systems, and approved software applications.
  • Provide support of basic telephony applications such as mobile devices, voicemail, and Automatic Call Distribution.
  • Create and maintain support documentation in a central Knowledge Base.
  • Utilize a call tracking system for call information; call tracking, resource management and coordination resolution.
  • Readily determine the end user's problem, apply the appropriate skills, and utilize the correct resources to resolve the problem.
  • Document and maintain a detailed history of the case notes related to the end user's problem and ultimate resolution.
  • Maintain up-to-date support documentation in a central Knowledge Base.
  • Verify end user detail is correct in trouble tracking system address book.
  • Travel between campus locations may be required.
  • May provide auxiliary support for other CIT teams during peak times.

Perform related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Demonstrated knowledge of hardware devices and software applications. Experienced in the use of Microsoft Office. Familiar with telephony applications such as mobile phones, and voicemail.
